Only 4GB ram included, it'll go with the other memory lying around that I don't use.

Yes, going to be doing a 4 x 6TB raidz2 array.

But you've bought one drive don't you need two to start a raid?

Sorry.. My insurance company has paid me out after lightning damage and I'm trying to decide if I should build up a beast of a machine, which I don't really need or rather get a NAS and STD desktop with an SSD to manage my downloads / fetch and download data.

Going to just use the single disk to keep a copy of what I have on my current aging raid setup, then when I get the remaining drives will nuke it and create a fresh array and copy the stuff over again.

My main goal is get something much more efficient that my current Q9550 setup as well as small enough to fit inside the small server rack I've got.

Best upgrade I ever did was from a Proliant Microserver to a AM1 platform. Did not care about loosing some SATA ports in the process.

Was temped for AM1 how does handle x265 and x264 full hd mkv's ?

It between that and lenovo mini pc with i3 4th gen, but it only comes with DP port and not hdmi so will have to convert for the tv. Lenovo will cost me R2500 for full pc with 4gb ram and 500gb drive.

I issues with playing back full HD x265 content on my Athlon 5370, even my Pi3 is playing HD x265 content. AM1 really is a powerful little platform.

Hi All,

Can somebody advise where would be the best place to buy PC Peripherals on credit? Example, mechanical keyboards, gaming mice, screens (easy - Game for example but still welcome to advise).

Thanks a stack!!

I know someone who tried to get from Nerd Hub, who advertises they can get it on credit but apparently they just get a loan on your behalf for the amount you want. Apparently they messed around with my buddy so he ended up just getting a loan to get his mobo and ram

Literally, jizz-worthy.

QNAP-TBS-453A-NAS-Internal-Showing-4x-M.2-Drives.jpg

Because it uses such tiny drives, this is a very small NAS unit, at around the size of a small novel. It can host up to four M.2 drives, and supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 modes. There are five Gigabit ports on the rear. According to the specs, port 1 and any of the ports four ports from 2-1 and 2-4 can be used by the two internal network cards, while the remaining three ports are switch ports. Four USB 3.0 and a single USB 1.0 provide generous connectivity, which can be used for printers, UPS and other peripherals. Most interesting are the twin HDMI outputs, but we’re not sure if they’re HDMI 2.0. Qnap claims they’re 4K compatible, saying “up to 4K 2160P Ultra HD support”, but there’s no mention of the refresh rate supported. There’s even twin microphone inputs, to turn it into a karaoke machine if that’s your kind of thing. There’s also a line out for an amplifier, along with an IR remote, making this the perfect media NAS.

Love ambitious engineering.

Did that ram end up working in your Gen 8? I'm looking for ram for my Gen 8 myself.

Yep, works great.
