tough one

yeah...the 6800 is about as much faster than a 3070 as the price difference so it's much of a muchness in cost per frame terms. However, the guy's playing CoD so framerate is king, I guess. The 6800 would get him closer to 144/165hz than the 3070 could (at the same quality settings) so there's that.

The 3060 Ti looks to deliver better cost per frame than either but not the absolute performance for high refresh gaming (unless the user is willing to turn some settings down or use resolution scaling). Might come in around 8.5-9k here if we get Palit cards (and the MSRP is actually $400).

Hi guys, my current Gpu has gone bust and I need to buy a new one, luckily insurance will cover it. My previous gpu was a XFX 5700 DD, loved the card. For the new card I would like to move up to 1440p from 1080p, 90% of the time I play COD, the other 10% is for some single player games. Should I go for a Palit 3070 at R13k or for a 6800 at R15k? The rest of my pc is b450 tomahawk max, 3200 16gb ram, ryzen 5 3600 and superflower 650w modular psu.

The 3070 seems to be about 20% faster than the 3060Ti, for about 40-50% more expensive.

If you weren't in a hurry, I would say wait for AMD to play their hand. The 3060Ti isn't really a ray tracing card imo, so you can go AMD without worrying too much about slow RT performance.
The AMD cards also seem to perform better at the lower resolutions, so they might release a card that comes relatively close to 3070 performance in 1440p, for somewhere in between a 3060Ti and a 3070 in price.

Thanks guys, yeah I was thinking of maybe just waiting a month or two to see what happens with the stock issues and pricing. Being a month or two without gaming will be super hard though :( :(

Well, Wootware's listed Galax and Palit 3060 Ti's already so you'll probably have options soon-ish. No pricing or availability info yet though.

I don't see AMD launching anything new till probably February - the Xbox and PS are taking up so much production capacity that AMD can't keep the already-launched 6800 GPU's \ 5000 series CPU's in stock.

I doubt it will, prices for other cards haven't dropped.

Hi guys.

I thought I could come here and share the good news seeing as though no one I know is really into PCs / Gaming. I’m the lucky owner of a Wootware’d 5600x / 3070 build.

My question for all of you is, what next?? Where do you guys get your games from mostly??

Congrats bud! My games are mostly on Steam or Origin.

Awesome stuff man! Nice build bru.

Steam, Epic, GOG are the usual places for getting games.

Awesome thanks for the suggestions.

Needless to say I’m broke now..... any decent free games worth checking out while I beg borrow and steal in anticipation of 2077??

Looking at Steam there’s quite an array of free to play :D

Is there anything one should consider doing to make sure the graphics and cpu are putting out the best they can?? Or should one just leave them to do their thing.

Stock should be fine. Make sure the xmp profile for your ram has been enabled.

Destiny 2 (base game) is free to play on steam. If you haven't played it before it is great for a free game.

Counterstrike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) - free
Call of Duty Warzone - free
Minecraft
Eve Online
Destiny 2
Hyper Scape
Among Us

Dota 2, think Rocket League is also free on Epic game store

How would one do that?? That’s what I’ve got:

G.Skill F4-3200C16D-16GVKB Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200MHz CL16 1.35V Black Desktop Memory

When the PC boots, hit delete or F2 or F10 to enter BIOS (depends on what motherboard you have)

Then you want to go to Overclocking, or memory settings or similar and choose XMP enabled - it should detect that 3200 is the correct speed.

Get an account with Epic, they give a free game every week or 2. I have gotten a lot of free games from them that I have missed over the last few years. Not the latest but still nice to play for free. Steam Christmas sale is also coming soon, add games to your wishlist to get notifications when they go on sale. They are often marked down considerably.
