Just looked at prices. The PC they are giving you is worth less than R7k, and you can get A LOT better than that for R10k.

The insurance sounds strange though. A lot of guys get the cash, and others people go and get quotes from retailers for the insurance on what they want. Sometimes even getting a slightly better PC than they had.

Maybe you should try and get a quote on a R10k PC with different components (from a Retailer like Rebeltech or Wootware) to show them what you can get and what you are looking for. Rather than the crap they are giving. Nothing wrong with the CPU or Windows (which add to the cost the most), but all the other stuff are low budget old components they are trying to get rid off at Mustek.

After your initial post, i went to check out all these components. That GPU is really bad (and cheap). I have no idea why the want 10k (R10291) for that system.

My insurance is making use of a "replacement" company. So i have to order the stuff through them... I did suggest to the sales person that i can get better prices elsewhere, but obviously they are not interested in using other companies, as i am not actually their client, my insurance company is.

I asked the guy to get more quotes and i gave him the minimum specs i am looking for. So, just waiting on a response ( which by the way, it takes more than 24h to get quotes...)

I'll talk directly to the insurance if I were you. State to them that the replacement PC this company is giving is not nearly worth R10k! Tell them to make a decision: Either give you a better PC (at least worth the R10k) or give me that piece of sh*t and I switch to a different insurance company.

This is BS man. There must be so T&Cs that state that what you get back should at least be worth the money and not the rip-off these guys are giving you!
 
So, this guy seems bit upset and gave me a price over my budget.
Where can i cut to get it to 11k max:

That's better! Take the i5 he previously gave. Go for a 450W or 500W PSU (you'll upgrade that in the future anyway). That alone will almost cut R2k.

The GTX760 is where the money jumped up. That GPU is around R3.5k. So rather ask for a GTX750 or GTX750Ti (which will drop it another R1k). Can they get Radeon cards?

Also, you can ask for a motherboard for around R1.4k or even as low as R1k. That H61 they wanted to give you is worth far less. With a bit lower spec mobo it will shave off another R500. If that still doesn't make the cut, go for 4GB RAM and get more later.

Thinking of this even harder... For the motherboard, ask for the H61 they originally priced and the i5 they gave. Then also for 4GB of RAM and a 500W (or 450W) PSU. That way you can keep the GTX 760. Where am I going with this? Well, the GTX760 is a great GPU, so you'd like to have that in. Once you get the PC, take some of your own money and get a decent mobo. There's and excellent ASrock mobo for R1.4k. And finally just buy another 4GB of RAM. That way you'll have an amazing PC. Well, that's if you have some cash as well.

I also see they excluded Windows, are you good with that?

What I suggest you ask for (if you have some cash of your own to spend in the near future):

This time they did not include a price next to each item but the total price is R13200.

Looks a lot better. Only thing they can still do is change the PSU to a 450W or 500W. If the price is still too high from them ask for a H81 mobo and i5 4430. If that is still too high, then you can opt for an i3 and upgrade that in the future. That GTX760 is key for your gaming.

Will they allow you to pay the difference (after they changed the PSU to a 450W or 500W and added a H81)?
 
I am going to put some of my own cash into the deal. But today it is taking forever to get a response...

It actually seems like they do not have a big variety of parts.

Currently my budget is 8-10k but can push a few more rands out if needed
Is this build fine for playing latest games and general use , what u guys think ?

I have just finished building an extremely similar build and I can assure you that you will be happy. I was able to run medal of honour warfighter on ULTRA settings and it was smooth as butter.

^^^Good build but may I suggest getting a 256Gb SSD rather, 128 is just a bit too small to be useful... I'm not sure if thats ''gaming'' RAM but go for the cheapest RAM you can get, it's all exactly the same

I have a 90gig SSD and i install all of my games on my 2TB. I haven't had a stutter or a glitch. I used to run my games on my very limited sized SSD and there was only a slight difference.

Either way, i need a bigger SSD.

See for me that's just a pain in the arse... I have a 256 with all my programs on and then a 2Tb with all my data, it's just a neater solution

Yeah I get what you are saying, My solution is pretty neat as well. I have a Program files folder on my secondary drive where everything is placed into that. I really don't need the advantage of SSD for applications like Plex that download more than 10 gigs of of metadata, or any extra performance for MK9, or any extra performance for Office. I will however install heavy applications on my SSD.

I guess that what I am trying to say is that only my heavy apps will be on my SSD.
I fully agree with your setup, if I had a lot of money to blow on a large SSD then sure, but you also need to understand whether an app like Office is of utmost importance to run on an SSD.

thanks guys for the advice on the new build , i will look into getting a bigger ssd
should i rather look at getting corsair vengeance ddr 3 ram rather than Gskill or are they the same more or less ?
