The PC Build Thread

I don't know, man...that's a personal preference thing. I'd feel like I was over spending getting the same chipset for a few hundred bucks more.

If it makes you feel better, go for it. Places I've dealt with will take back hardware without problems (wootware, takelot, Raru).

True. Alright then I will stick with the one Ponder suggested and maybe spend a bit more on the GPU.

Edit: Second thoughts, I can't fault the build, excellent reviews on the GPU's as well. Will stick with it.

Why not wait a bit for the 480? The 480 will also cause the other AMD GPU's to fall in price.

What's going on here? I've lost track somewhere along the line.

Short version: Budget raised to 12k. Seeing what I can upgrade. Gotten myself in a knot too :D

Edit: Any difference between these, apart from the price.

R1,549.00 Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H DDR4 LGA1151 Skylake Micro-ATX Desktop Motherboard

and

R 1,126 GIGABYTE GA-H110M-S2PH, Intel H110, LGA1151, Micro-ATX

That shipset h110 and 150m thing is confusing the **** out of me. Anything I should know?

B150: 4 DIMM slots versus 2, has m.2 socket versus none, should be better onboard sound, more USB 3.0 slots, more SATA3 (6Gbs)

All depends on what you think you will need in future.

^^, meant to add...I'd get the one with more features if the PSU hasn't eaten up the extra budget.

I also really recommend you to wait for the end of the month to at least see reviews of the new AMD RX 480, if any of the early reports are true it will be on par with the GTX 980 for half the price.

Alright I will do that. Am a patient one.

Why not just get this then?

Do you really need 4 Ram slots?, i cant see why 2 will not be sufficient. The M.2 is also pretty useless unless you go PCI-M.2 in which case you will pay out of your ears, not to mention for the M.2 PCI drive.
It comes down to how many PCI slots you need, this MB only has 1 PCI-E 16 and one 4x. But besides that it can do anything the others can do.
I always feel a MB is the one thing people overspend on and all of them do basically the same, unless you plan to SLI.

Edit, Looking at the MB you want http://www.wootware.co.za/asus-b150...r4-skylake-micro-atx-desktop-motherboard.html
Is the extra 2 ram slots and 1 extra pci slot worth the extra R600?
Take the Asrock and use the extra cash to get one of these, then on a later stage you can buy another one : http://www.rebeltech.co.za/1866-213...suppo.html?search_query=16gb+2133&results=128

M.2 is awesome. You don't have to use an expensive PCIe card with it, I just use a normal SATA one because it means I have two fewer cables in the case. Worth the small premium IMO - my M.2 drive was about R80 more than the 2.5" version.

850 EVO 500GB M.2 is R100 more than the 2.5" drive on Wootware at the moment:

Yeah, but performance wise its exactly the same as normal Sata, unless you go M.2 PCI, Only then can you see a big difference, even more so if you buy 2 and go Raid :P , But I think "Salroin" is looking at budget, in which case M.2 Sata is really not worth it.
The price does not come in with the actual drives here, a M.2 MB is much more expensive than a non M.2 MB.
