Hi all. Looking help with new PC build. Current system embarrassed to say is E8300/GTX760. Looking a i9 9900k and GTX 2080 as base this time a round . Found system on Evetech which pretty much fits my bill https://www.evetech.co.za/intel-9th-gen-core-i9-9900k-rtx-2080-oc-gaming-pc/best-pc-deal/5080.aspx but will shop anywhere. Any and all advice will be appreciated.

Budget?
Resolution you game at?

Thanks for heads up Ponder. Around 30k without monitor. Although I'm sure 4k would be possible the monitor pricing will be restrictive. Probably 1440p for now.

Will you be overclocking?

I just threw some parts into a basket to get an idea of cost and R30k is not gonna make it...

This excludes a water cooler,

The above is not a recommendation, just get an idea wrt costs.

Have you considered having a look at the new Ryzens coming out next sunday?

Last year was dead set on Ryzen system did not know where were new ones coming out. Have never been into the overclocking scene. Must do my homework on the Palit cards and new Ryzens I guess :)

It's sad how expensive PC building is here in SA relative to our average income.

The overseas people always say how tough it is there side too, but if you look at the total cost of building a decent PC over there relative to the average annual salary, it's really a drop in the bucket compared to SA

The monitor I bought last month is R2800 on Amazon but R5000 locally.

I read somewhere that Palit is the consumer division of PNY. PNY is nVidia's largest partner when it comes to Quadro cards so pretty good cards I believe.

Bought it last week when the discount started. installed it and i'm pretty happy with it so far, the white light is pretty bright at night, so if you have a case with a clear side panel it might bother you.

Temps are good, though i have yet to push any overclocking on it. I think it's a good deal for an AIO liquid cooler.
Thanks. I ordered one. Hopefully install it this weekend.

Okay does anyone know where to get the case fan clips. The screws suck

I have the opposite problem.... I need more screws hahaha
The screws that come with the fans are horrid, I couldn't even get them to screw in. Then I saw the coolermaster case I got from a forumite had these cool clips that you clip the fan in. So much better, I also remember coolermaster used to have rubber type gromets you'd pull through to secure the fans. But cannot find those separately to purchase.

For some reason it's difficult to find case specific replacement parts in SA, probably no one want's to do the effort to import them.

These aren't really case specific though, I mean it's really just a plastic thing you put where the fan goes and you push it down to lock. Don't know why fan manufacturers don't use this instead of the screws that often end up stripped.

If people stop randomly replacing fans all the time the screws wont get stripped.

Pretty much counts yes
I only take out mine to oil the bearings if they go dry.
Look this might be the last time for at least a year. But I'd prefer to change the screws to something less yucky. I mean the screws make the one fan vibrate which I can hear at lower speeds, while the one with the plastic doo-hickeys works great.

There's always daisy-chaining cable ties, ugly but it works.... and it counts as a plastic doo-hickey

You know I did actually consider that :-) but it's not the most elegant. Was thinking of going to a hobby shop and checking their screws as well.
