The PC Build Thread

So PC arrived today, ty all for help. Busy assembling, and I've realised that my Sabrent nmve 4.0 1TB SSD came without a heatsink, and my asus motherboard doesn't have it pre-done. Is this a thing? Should I stress about it? Only using PC for gaming pretty much.

You should be able to monitor temps. I won't stress.

While talking about audio...

Any recommendations on how to use my Bluetooth headsets with my desktop? I looked for a board with built in BT and got laughed at. I tried a dongle but the sound was terrible. Ended up with a good uGreen transmitter but it doesn't receive.

Why is this such a hassel in this day and age?

My friend uses a asus Bluetooth adapter and his happy, it could just be too many signals in the room hence it breaking up. I can't use Bluetooth headies at work as it's just too congested.

Have an old bluetooth adapter, I can hear audio well enough, but microphone is real bad. Will buy a Bluetooth 4 or a 5 version dongle later, headset works fantastic on my laptop.

morning all
so im busy buying hardware as we speak
as budget was tight i had to be imaginative

WD Blue 2 TB HD from takealot at 1,089 using takealot voucher and ebucks for 700

Samsung 860 Evo 250gb SSD from takealot at 1350 using voucher+ebucks for 900

as i dont game i was going to order
Ryzen 3 3200g from takealot at 1,899 less voucher+ebucks for 1200

2,800 for all the above.

i was hoping to get either the tomahawk max or gaming carbon pro b450 board but wootware has the tomahawk max at 2,600

will prices come down with the b550 coming soon?

can't also find a reasonable psu,the superflower entry ones are out of stock

for the case cant find either the nxzt or phantel p300/400 anywhere

Bear in mind that future Ryzen processors will not be compatible with B450 boards but they will be compatible with B550 boards. If I was you, I'd rather just wait for a B550 board.

To be fair, it isn't often that you upgrade a CPU anyway, but it is nice to have the option if you want it.

As for PSU, honestly sometimes I think we PC gamers go a little overboard with PSUs. I think as long as you don't buy the cheapest one that exists, you will be fine. Buy something from Corsair, Coolermaster, Thermaltake, Antec or Superflower with at least a 5 year warranty and you will be fine.

with the budget cpu that i chose 3 3200g work with the b550 board?
my budget is limited so im not going down GPU route

Have a look at these SSDs:

So I took a drive to pclinkshop and got my equipment... one part not in stock but it wasn't crucial to the build.

Now I'm typing from the new build... I love that feeling when you build the pc and everything works first time.

Although I seem to be having RAM issues... they only showed 2666mhz when I'm running 3200mhz. Will have to figure that one out first.

Are they open for walk-ins?

Don't think so. I had my invoice and they brought out the parts. In their defense they are very busy and it looks like a storage facility but they are working hard by the looks of it.

Go into bios and enable XMP profile.

If you want to OC or tighten up ram timings download Thaiphoon Burner and DRAM Calculator for Ryzen then watch a few youtube guides on using them.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Jirre!

Who spends R24000 on a motherboard that you are going to have to replace next generation?
