I was looking at the price of second hand cards, wow they've gone up hey :-( was looking at a 2nd hand 1080ti and it was R7k

R7k is still pretty good from my understanding... didn't the cards launch for around R12k?

At least in the time that I've been keeping an eye on them (late last year) 1080ti's have stayed around R7-9k

quick q: do you guys think upgrading the ram will boost gaming performance? i have ryzen 1500x with 8gb 2400mhz ram.

Ryzens like higher clocked memory, you'll probably only get 10% though

What GPU do you have?

You’ll see an improvement from more RAM, as well as from faster RAM. 16GB DDR4-3200 would make quite a difference.

That'll be a big boost, but you'll need to improve your memory. t was the price of the 5700xt?
sorry it's actually the non-xt version. I ordered it at R 7800 from loot, but parcel havent arrived + dont know when it will arrive :(

Non XT for that price doesn't seem to bad
yeah was actually the best price i could find for non-reference model of 5700, after scouring the net for days. Still overpriced, but everything is overpriced at the moment...

Yup it is, I should've paid the R1000 more last year and gotten the 2060 vs my 1660ti :-) but at the time I was like hmmm.

I think with computer hardware its always difficult to draw the line - I promise you had you got the 2060 you will have contemplated whether you should have spend R1000 - R2000 more to get the 2070!

I heard that 5700 can be flashed to get xt-like performance. risky, but worth a try i guess if the card runs out of steam... :)

I've read that as well, and would be cool to try out. Now get yourself 16 GB of 3200 MHZ memory to really open up that GFX card :-)

Correct I run my Rx 5700 for months now with XT bios. Runs like a dream, 1900mhz boost so long as the fans are ramped up :p
I oh so want an upgrade, but the 12k I've spent over lockdown has kind of drained that :-). The 1600AF and memory was for the secondary machine, which I'll have to get a new case for. The old CM690 II is really really loud on the fans and it seems they aren't PWM.

i should have took the plunge before this covid craze, price ramped up by 10% - 20% me thinks.. :(
