MSI X570A-PRO
XMP Currently on I think, put it back after giving up in timings previously.

The default timings on the XMP profile aren't promising  16-20-20-38-58 is pretty slow and means they've basically overclocked it out the factory to hit 3200. I see 16-18-18-38-56 as kinda the average (what I have) - c14 or memory capable of tighter sub-timings gets into the diminishing returns range i.e. money better spent on a faster GPU or CPU.

I'd set it at XMP and move on - tweaking the memory isn't going greatly change the PC's performance anyway. I just do it for the tinkering.

was hoping to pick.up a Samsung NVME but they are pricey
alternative was the WB black SN750 but cant find good price for a 512gb
all the other options are above 2k ie Seagate and HK vision
saw this just now

not familiar with this option as most recommend the Samsung's
but at half the price??

any recommendations

I have the EX900 256GB and it’s running perfectly.

thanks
i was waiting for price drop on the WD black SN750 but no stock
the Samsung 970 Evo plus is over R2000 for the 250GB

so thought for +/- R1900 the HP EX920 is ok for double storage

Seems decent to me. I paid R1,199.

So thinking of upgrading my Ram in current PC. Currently running TridentZ RGB 32GB (8GB x 4).

Rest of setup is 3700x and 1080ti (all water cooled).

Obviously with Ryzen faster Ram is preferred so wondering if the jump from 3200Mhz to 3600Mhz will see much of an improvement on my side?

Thought is to either go 64GB or get 32GB now and later add another 32GB.

What do you use the PC for? Just gaming or work as well? If so, what? Gaming won’t see much improvement over 16GB so 64GB would be overkill for most things unless you have a specific need for that capacity.

3600 will obviously be faster, but again, for purely gaming you’re talking minuscule ROI.

Most important would also be timings. A 3200 kit with tight timings could be faster than a 3600 with loose timings.

PC is used for both work and gaming. Lots of browser tabs, coding, Photo editing etc.

Have not had any issues with the 32GB at all. Was only thinking of 64GB to help with my OCD and empty ram slots.

If I can get away with keeping this ram and maybe getting timings running better then that would be great.

Any guide or tips how to get the best timings.

Sounds like a waste of cash then, to do an upgrade.

Timings;

Download Thaiphoon Burner

Download Ryzen DRAM Calculator

Run Thaiphoon, Click READ and select a RAM slot. Scroll down to the bottom and click "Show time in nanoseconds" or similar.

Export as a complete HTML file.

Open Ryzen DRAM Calculator.

Import HTML, select the file you exported.

Make sure motherboard and such is correct on the left.

You can then select Safe or the other option and it will give you timings it thinks it will run at.

Take a photo of the various timings.\

Go into the BIOS and change the respective timings to match the recommended ones.

Save and Exit.

Hope and Pray.

I kind of have a bad luck when it comes to electronics so I tend to get products with full warranty. What new graphics card would you suggest for my build in that r5000 budget or let's say r6000(after I sell my GPU)

RX 5600 XT if budget allows else GTX 1660 Super

The pc is restarting on the bios screen, either a motherboar, psu or ram issue. Waiting for wootware to fix it. Once its fix and they replace whatever, I am thinking of upgrading to something but within a budget of 5000. What do u guys suggest. My current config is

If you can upgrade to 3600 for a couple hundred, sure. Some games aren't faster at all, others seem to be about 4% faster at 1080p.

Rather save your money for that 3080Ti.

Yeah talked myself out of upgrading ram for now.
I had the same issues a week or so ago. Thought I would just add another 32gb of 3200mhz ram to fill the slots and get some extra performance. Even with the video editing I do it isn’t really needed. So I spent my money on a M.2 Gen3 For faster transfer speeds of my videos... money well spent and I can clearly see the difference... whereas the Ram would only have made a difference in my pocket.

Yeah I think I was just going thru a faze there . Never had any issues thus far with not enough ram etc so gonna give it a skip now.

Have a similar build :)
Rather try go x570? Really informative thread on Carbonite about the pro's of this over the B450 :)
