Guess if I can find a decent 11kish 3060 I should by it

selling my old i5 skylake system with rx480 which will ease the blow I guess. just not sure how much to sell for.


edit: also just got one of those world map mousepads. Wanted something to help with “sticky” wrists when it gets warm (my desk is a small desk with a vinyl wrapped door as a facade)

Prices are mad because of the silicone shortage combined with crypto miners. In theory you could pay of the 3060 in 4-5 months but there are a lot of ifs and buts in that equation
 
Norra-fork. Don't buy anything in 2021.

Wait until 2nd or 3rd Q 2022.

You will be caught getting stock of 3090s in Q1 and Q2 2022 before the 4090 is released in Q3.

Then prices for the aforementioned will suddenly drop and you may end up regretting it.

Best bet, aim for end of 2022 to see how things go.

Agreed but that is a long time and with covid restrictions we will probably only be back to normal April next year

I think we are making the same point.

Frankly, COVID doesn't factor here for me. What matters is the chip shortage. There's just no way around it.

I can game, just can't cyberpunk 2077.. but that's okay.. Iit just forces me to wait for them to finish fixing all the release bugs and unfinished things..

Agreed but my main issue is I like most people will probably game more this year than next year so a PS5 might be the solution

It's obscene really.
The 2000 series was considered overpriced, since it didn't really give more performance per $ than the previous gen.
The 3000 series MSRP looks great, but here we are, where a 3060Ti costs slightly more than 1080Ti did back in 2016, and is a bit faster. The 3060 (non Ti) costs less, but is slower than a 1080Ti.
