I would go RTX 2070
Yes I'm starting to find out that apparently with VR frame time is more important than frame rate. I don't know where to find benchmarks like that but from what I gather the RTX 2070 will win in that regard.

I'm just not sure it's really worth an upgrade then, unless I can increase my budget. I don't see significant difference in performance between the 2060 and 2070.

Frame time and rate are basically the same thing (rate being frames rendered in one second, vs frame time being the time to render a frame).

As long as all frames render at roughly the same time it shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't go down to a 1080; but a 2070 should be a bit better. Otherwise I'd save the money and then later get a 3060.

Frame Time Consistency is the metric you're looking for, especially for VR. Check out Gamers Nexus on Youtube, their benchmarks are very detailed and will include frame time consistency charts so you cna get a comparative.

Guys any idea why a hp pc shows press Esc to start menu on startup screen ?

Pricing are improving drastically especially with the lite hash rate cards. I would save up for a 3060ti, can get now for around R13k and if you are lucky maybe around R10k in a couple of months

And what happens when you press ESC? Is that for accessing tbe BIOS? Anything else on the screen?

Just checking if it's agreed that I'm making the right choice here:

Looking to upgrade from my RTX2060. Primarily used for VR racing. 90% of my game time is in Dirt Rally 2.0. with the Oculus Quest 2. I just want to increase fidelity a bit and stabilise FPS.

In my price range I can either afford a second hand RTX2070 or GTX1080-ti. Comparing the benchmarks it looks to me like the 1080ti will give me much better results. Unless I'm mistaken, I think the 4k performance is most important for VR. I'm not phased about Ray-Tracing and DLSS isn't supported in most VR games yet... maybe in a year or so it will be more common - at which time I can upgrade if I really want it.

RTX2070 vs RTX2060:

GTX1080-ti vs RTX2060:
I have one of the fastest 1080Ti models out there, sustaining boost of 1950mhz+ stock and it is not a 4K60 card on high settings in almost-modern games, much less the 120fps you really want for VR.

With the GPU market the way it is, and for some future proofing, I would rather wait and save to get a 3080.

If you're going for future proofing, skip the 3080 altogether and get a 6800XT - it has 6GB more VRAM.

You can, I'm not sure what you'd like to use it for, but you could.
Busy building a pc I can at least play a online game on … I’m getting parts here and there but that I got from a friend at work … I have also a GPU g710 … but that’s the least I got …

Okay the G710 isn't a gpu, it performs worse then most onboard GFX. An i5 2500 with a G710 you may as well play games from 1999.
