Can I hazard a guess - it's a Mushkin SSD?

They sell them at rock bottom prices, but it's my only criticism so far of Wootware: They're punting Mushkin SSDs (which appears to be more prone to failure than most) - and I've had several fail on me so rather paid in extra the last time to get another brand.
Pretty weird
I've been exclusively using their Mushkin drives in all of my builds
I've probably got 9 or 10 Mushkin drives which I've been using since 2018 and they're all running happy in various laptops, desktops, etc.

Damn, that was going to be my second guess. Have had a few of those fail as well.

Since then I've been sticking to HP, WD Blue, Kingston and Samsung drives and had almost no issues.
I've got a mushkin in my gaming PC and it's been great for almost 2 years, thought hey Crucial memory ain't to bad, but apparently their SSDs are a bit hit and miss.

Guess I hit the unlucky RNG :(

It if was only 1 drive then I wouldn't have mentioned it, but I had 3 Mushkin drives fail / go inaccessible on me / family and another had "stuttering" performance where Windows would seize up every so often. Had to demote it to a game drive where it wasn't as noticeable (was just out of warranty).

After that I swore never to touch them again, even if the price is great bang for bucks.
Might have just been a few bad batches over that period - didn't order more to find out :p
Very glad to hear you lads haven't had issues though.

Also have a Mushkin SSD in my gaming PC, no issues. Also have a HP EX900, also running great for the last 2 years or so.

Mushkin drives do seem to have a high failure rate but somebody on the forum told me that if they do fail, they fail early.

I've had one of these since 2012 (maybe 2013?). It started it's life as the Windows and programs disk in my main PC. Many years later, it moved over to the kids PC. Still going strong...

My original 256gb Samsung Evo from 2012 is still running, I mean it's like a beast, though the laptop isn't used that much anymore.

What environment do you use them in that you use so many SSDs?

I've checked but I don't see my max amp/watt for my motherboard's fan headers. It's the z690 prime p d4. I guess from google fu 2x 0.2a + 1x 0.4a on a single header should be fine? Reason I want to split intake and exhaust so that intake is 10% more rpm than the exhausts.

We upgraded a lot of business systems with SSD's, especially laptops.

It's the worst when an SSD you installed fails on a client a few months later, while in their experience they never had drives fail on them before other than from really old age.
Luckily backups save the day, but the whole deal is still a pain in the butt for everyone involved as laptops now-adays all have to be fully disassembled to replace the drive and folks have to sit without the machine for a few hours.

So having ordered many dozens of SSDs of several brands I stick to the lowest failure rate drives - as listed previously.

On that case remember to ask for an exhaust fan on the back, Otherwise you only get the two on the front. You can also go with the Phanteks PH-EC400ATG_DBK01 (R1,549.00) instead which has 3 front.
Thanks, i have a 1050ti (dont laugh) in a Dell optiplex atm.
The majority of my gaming is dota 2 and i usually have a oldish AAA title in rotation. I wont upgrade for a long time

So thinking of going for this build with the 5700X rather for longevity and then saving up for a higher end GPU and 32GB RAM further down the line. But only AFTER Raptorlake is out (hoping for further price drops)

With cooler it comes to around R13k, save up for the GPU and RAM over the next year and have something that will be good for a long time

I'd spend more on the GPU now if I were you, it's the defining factor for gaming performance. Get a 5600X and a 6600XT rather, if you can.

Been almost 10 years since my first build with help from peeps on this forum. Mobo finally gave out 2 weeks ago and decided it was time for round number 2, this time with AMD:

Ryzen 5 5600
CoolerMaster Hyper H410R (Carried over)
Asus Prime B550 Plus
Radeon RX570 (Upgraded bout 2 years ago)
16GB G.Skill DDR4 3600
Corsair RM550x PSU
4x Scythe Kaze Flex 120mm Case Fans
SSD's still chuggin along but cable tied now to the same case to make space for fans.

Obviously a pretty budget build but I'm not really a heavy user. Took me the whole of yesterday to figure everything out but doing it yourself is super rewarding in the end.

Good job man, awesome.

I think you'll find an SSD mount on the back side of the case, should be able to mount it there so it isn't loose or cable tied.
