So AM5 is a better choice, right?
It's what I would (and did) go for. Well that's if you want to go 7800x3D. If you don't want to spend that money, then there are good Intel arguments as well. At this point it sort of becomes a budget discussion. 13600K/13700K are solid options too. 7700X and 7800x3D are probably where the money is at on AMD.

Actually longer probably 5 years

With horsepower new games need and the ram VRAM requirements going through the roof lately, not to sure about 5 years. Maybe will still play the latest, but not on High or Max settings.

Yeah but that's how it goes. Even now playing on max is not great

Honestly, playing on Ultra is actually, basically pointless.

on that note... this is 4 years old... ultra vs high is this much difference
edit: still holds true today...

My thinking is if it can play ultra now, it should play on high and medium going further into the future. The 1070 doesn't cut it anymore.... Oh, and not having RayTrace is a killer for me. Can't stand bland looking stuff and glad to see technology is getting better, specially more realistic lighting.

I’m my experience, Ray-Tracing can make a difference in specific games and areas. However, while you’re playing, it’s very hard to tell the difference. If you want I’ll post some screenshots later of RT enabled and disabled and you’ll see what I mean. It really depends on the implementation.

But I agree with your logic. High-end now means playable for a long time. Average now means low 720p soon

I'm pretty sure it affects NPC andAI as well

Ummm… not sure what you mean exactly. AI behavior is handled by the CPU. I think that may change with all the onboard AI chips new GPUs are coming with, but currently it’s handled by the CPU.
All I know is Cyberpunk looks crap on my pc and ai/NPC is non existent, even on highest setting. So maybe my CPU needs more priority then than the gpu?

There's two aspects to that. Cyberpunk isn't massively populated in general, but there's also a Crowd Density setting which reduces population count. Possily you have that enabled.

Thinking 30 - 35k is decent for mid rig that is more than capable.
Could go 5800x3d / i5 13600k with new 4070, or even rx 7900xt, 32gb ddr4 ram. difference between DDR4 and 5 not game changer for gaming.

FPS on proc, resolution on card. So more than good enough for 1440p high gaming. With 7900XT 4k is easy.

Standing there stationary you can notice it, however you are mostly moving around and then it becomes less noticeable, the same applies to many other gfx settings.
For those not too familiar with all the settings and what they do those game optimisation guides can be very handy and gain significant fps.
