The Pill

That's an awesome poster :)

They're not obligated to provide you with the morning after pill. It's up to the chemists discression. Like Telkomisaloser said try another chemist - and quickly......

Yeah definitely, keep trying chemists until you 'get lucky' ('scuse the pun) ... some of these people are judgmental pricks and inject their own personal bias into their work ... there must be a 24hr chemist somewhere your girlfriend can fit into her schedule ... better to go through hell now for one day or two, even if she has to take off work, trust me, that schlep is nothing compared to the alternative scenario. Unless you happen to want to be "daddy" you have only ONE priority right now.

I'm not sure anymore how long you have though, but it's worth a try anyway, and get on it ASAP.

For interest, if I recall correctly from some reading up I once did, the AVERAGE odds of a woman getting pregnant from having unprotected sex once are roughly 1 in 20 (about 5%) (in reality it varies widely though depending on lots of things). There is of course also abortion as a last resort if she is pregnant ... not ideal, but if you guys aren't exactly serious about staying together forever than it's far better NOT to bring an unwanted child into what could easily become a stupid messed up relationship and ruin everyone's lives unnecessarily.

Hope you learn something from this experience. (I suppose many of us have made this kind of mistake at least once :/) ... but don't sit on online forums, head off to chemists, one after the other, find a 24hr one if necessary.

i didnt want to bring up the abortion part, but he's right... but thats like the last thing someone does... giving the child away for adoption, so many people want children but cant get any..

my GF does not have time to go in and get it herself.

Actually WTF --- hello, what exactly can be a higher priority right now than this? (Unless she wants to get pregnant.)

I feel sorry for your gf - those pills make you very very ill....... She's in for a long difficult night.

Apparently you should only take them once or twice in a lifetime - they can cause some serious damage.

They don't make the woman sick...

:o **** I have a lot of experience with this..

The pharmacist usually give it to you, make sure it's a guy. He'll pull you aside and say "it's not ideal for her to take this, it can screw up her cycle, etc, etc."

Then they will make you sign the register to make sure you don't buy it too often. ;)

Just go try a different drug store...

The fact that morning after pills are dangerous and can be used for suicides etc.

My feeling exactly... If it will affect the rest of your life I am sure taking an hour or two away from work will NOT be a problem....

Ok wait, let me get this right.

You had a so called accident and now just assume by default she's pregnant

Do you have any idea how hard it is to knock up a woman ? Yes sure it can happen in one sigle accident but the odds are very very slim. Unless she was smack bang in the middle of her cycle ;) If she had a period a few days ago or are due to have one in the next few days, don't stress about it :)

Jahmon, theres a 72 hours window as far as i remember, but obviously as the time go by the effectiveness if any from the pill goes down too.

what you needing

plan B / morning after
2x pregnancy tests things
...

she has to take the tests to make double sure its positive or negative.

GL with the stress; its most propebly one of the most stressing for you and your woman.

being 2 weeks before your period ? (i think), you might be lucky....

-Ovulation Calendar, not a bad piece of software.

Boys boys...there is no such thing as a "morning after pill", maybe a "morning after cocktail".

Within 72 hours of the incident, go to a chemist or clinic and ask for Ovral or Ovral 28.

Have your girlfriend take 2 white pills immediately & 2 white pills 8-12 hours later. Her period will start in around 3-6 days.

Side effects may include painful uterus cramps, tender breasts & moodiness. This method is not recommended for regular use.

This has happend to me twice. Doctor told me that its just an overdose of hormones, wont cause any damage what so ever. It just tells her body to break down the normal membrane it breaks down every month during her "period"

GF had no probs no side effects no vommiting nothing. Chemist had no prob selling it to me, he actually did it with charm and said good luck. At that time i was as young as you and i was just being stupid i dont know if we really needed the pill but better safe than sorry!

EDIT: They sell cheap ones and very expensive ones, Get the best most expensive one... Ask the chemist, cuz u do love her dont ya? O also keep in mind she should not take any other hormones like the normal pill

I'd suspect the reason that the pharmacist wants to see her personally is for counselling, information about possible side effects, etc. They have legal (and ethical) obligations to make sure she knows all the details and risks, and they can't be sure that you would pass all the info on to her.

I don't think it's unreasonable.

What I personally think is unreasonable is that the girl cant take an hour out of her schedule to accompany the OP to the pharmacy in the first place.

Hey man relax, there's no need to stress. This has happened to me a few times with my GF and so far everything worked out. I don't see why the pharmacy doesn't want to sell you these pills since i've never had a problem with buying them myself. Which area of CT are you in?

Also, get your GF to work out when was the last time she had her period and when's the next time she's due. If she had it a few days ago then you should be fine. If she's due in the next few days then you should be fine as well.

Good luck man... ;)
