Then they'll only put him in the national team in 10 years time.
That's just the problem. You can only produce world class players when you drop them in early.
Malan doing well for the emerging players side.

CSA congratulates Allan Donald on hall of fame induction

Cricket South Africa (CSA) today congratulated former Standard Bank Proteas fast bowler Allan Donald on his induction into the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame in London last night.

Donald becomes the third South African to achieve this honour, following in the footsteps of Barry Richards and Graeme Pollock, and the first of the modern era.

“Congratulations to Allan on this significant honour that deservedly recognises him as one of the all-time legends of the game,” commented CSA Chief Executive Thabang Moroe. “None of us will ever forget his memorable opening delivery of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup at the famous Sydney Cricket Ground in the Proteas first ever match in this famous tournament against Australia in 1992.

“Indeed, if you go further back, he claimed a ‘fifer’, including an opening spell of 3/11, in our first ever ODI against India in 1991. He set the standard for others to follow and has been a proud standard bearer of the Proteas brand ever since.

“He has undoubtedly been the inspiration to the successive generations of world-class fast bowlers South Africa has produced ever since.

“He has once again made us all very proud and we extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to him,” concluded Mr Moroe.

A brief overview of Allan Donald’s career highlights:

72 tests for South Africa, taking 330 wickets at 22.25 apiece
164 ODIs, taking 272 wickets at 21.78 apiece
Currently fourth-leading wicket-taker in test cricket for South Africa.
He was the first South African to take 300 test wickets.
He was the first South African to take 200 ODI wickets.
Until this week, he was South Africa’s leading wicket-taker in World Cup cricket with 38.
Spent 596 days as the number 1 ranked test bowler (1998-1999).
Peaked at number 2 in the ICC ODI bowling rankings

What bothers me is that we know the Pakistani senior side are not world beaters, yet their youths have destroyed us on home soil.

Proves that our youth development has gone to shyte.
Our youth are off to greener pastures. I know one (coloured kid) who is signed up for an overseas club. Why hang around and play under the ANC colours?

IMO, it has been decided he will stay on and they're just winding down the clock till they can say it's too late to appoint anyone else...

From the 1st article, it appears that there are clearly 2 camps.

However Papa Faf seems to be backing him... that might count for something if the rest of players are also behind him.

Looks like they are attributing the WC failure to circumstances beyond their control (injuries) and lack of clout from CSA (not getting players back from the IPL sooner)

Might as well go all in

Honestly, in AB's own words, i think its time to move on.

Keeping him in the side only stunts the development of a potential future talent.

Moving on is hard though, we still haven't found real replacements for players past. But in the same breath we shouldnt expect a new player to be the "next AB/Kallis/<insert former proteas legend>" and rather let them focus on being the best version of themselves.

Also to be honest, pure cricket arguments aside, what AB did hurt. And he's really not my favourite human being at the moment, and wont be for a while. Or at least until we get the full truth regarding the whole debacle

Wayne Parnell scored his maiden Vitality Blast half-century for Worcestershire Rapids as they overcame a wobbly start and finish to their innings to edge out Derbyshire Falcons by two wickets at New Road.
The South African all-rounder, who celebrated his 30th birthday yesterday, rescued the Rapids after they had slipped to 35 for 3 in reply to Derbyshire's 156 for 4. He reached his half century off 34 balls with the aid of four sixes and one four.
