Momentum pulls out as CSA sponsor
Cricket South Africa’s largest remaining sponsor, Momentum, has pulled the plug on its involvement with cricket and will not renew its contract once it expires in April next year.

As if the current state of affairs aren’t bad enough financially for CSA, Momentum’s departure is the second main sponsor to walk away after Standard Bank also decided against renewing its deal for the long-term future earlier this year.

Could someone better informed than myself briefly explain what has happened at CSA?

SASCOC itself has a terrible reputation when it comes to good governance, so what has happened at CSA that they have stepped in?

Is this in any way related to all the race and transformation stuff that came up?

The one relatively unknown player in the squad is Stuurman. Interestingly, he is 28-years-old but still a relative newcomer to the scene.

He seems to be quite highly-rated though and has drawn comparisons to Philander.

Looks a more than useful squad. What's worrying is the amount of cricket (or lack thereof) these guys have played in the last 6 months.

Looking forward to the series. England are a super tough team to knock over. Would have loved a couple of test matches too.

Solid team

Would like to see QdK relieved of the gloves, there are 4 keepers in the squad if u count Mr Miller
 
I think our bowlers did fairly well in this second ODI, considering we are lacking in the leggy department.


The problem is our batting. We're relying too much on QDK.

I think we lacking in both. The 2 go hand in hand. Score enough runs and your bowlers profit from batsmen forced to play aggressively.

No. Completely one dimensional. When the chips are down and the pressure is on and it's been shown that taking the pace off the ball makes it harder to score runs, they go all out for speed records. One trick ponies, most of them.

You can't fault the bowlers when the total is below par. The bowlers have to work with what's in their control.

Not necessarily, it depends on the wicket. Cutters, knuckleballs and cross seamers were all used, so speed is not a true reflection of the delivery, especially in T20 when pacers use more variations.

At least give that a go! There are younger players starting to score heavily and take wickets now. Look to them! Not sure why Pite van Biljon is in the squad as he's 34. How long can he play for? They're not investing in youth (like they did with Kallis, ABD, KG etc). Some guys are old and shouldn't be there.

Watch the 17th over of the first T20 again and tell me you can't blame the bowlers...

EDIT: But look, it's a team sport and all 11 players are required to perform. Without runs on the board there is nothing to defend and no contest.. If your bowlers travel in the first innings your batsmen are under pressure in the second innings, and vice versa..

You are one player of colour short. I think we need 6 of which 2 must be very dark.

Otherwise good team.

I have no idea why Miller doesn't play, he only got one game in the IPL as well.
Andile is injured, I think.
Not sure why Morris can't make the side.

No word on Andile but hell we could use him. Miller is out of favour completely but he could do better than Klaasen!

Both of those guys would be in my first choice of players for white ball cricket along with Morris.

South Africa win the toss and bat. Morgan calls incorrectly for a change, but the upshot is the same. England will be chasing for the third match running.
