And why the double standards? How is the allowed to promote a political agenda but he removes the U19 captain for doing the same?

JUAN JAMES TO LEAD SA U19 AT THE WORLD CUP

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has today announced that Western Province all-rounder Juan James will captain South Africa Under-19 (SA U19) at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024.

The 19-year-old will the lead the junior Proteas in the 15th edition of the tournament with the hosts set to get their campaign underway against West Indies on Friday, 19 January at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.

James previously captained SA U19 during the five-match 50-over series against Bangladesh in July last year, where he led the side in the third and fifth match of the youth series.

Conrad planned to axe Elgar before India series​

Shukri Conrad told Dean Elgar that he was not going to be selected for the recent Test series against India.

According to Rapport newspaper, Elgar, who had no plans to retire from Test cricket, then struck a deal with Conrad that would allow him to play a final series in front of his home fans.

Elgar – the top run-scorer in SA’s 4-Day Domestic Series this season – scored 185 in the first Test against India in Centurion, leading the side to an innings win after taking over the captaincy from an injured Temba Bavuma on the first morning.

It made sense to move on from deano. But should have happened post NZ. Before the 185 vs india he had been in poor form and he is 36.

Manners makes good points all round.

Given the bigger picture, CSA made a call that they viewed as the right one.

Was government involved, highly likely... but its understandable given the ICJ case going on. Whether right or wrong, the young man learnt a valuable lesson about being a public figure and how to conduct oneself in those situations.

A national captain is de facto a ministerial position. National teams and especially captains are seen as representative of their nations/countries at all times

edit: most members here that are employed will know that your employers most likely have a social media policy which restricts you from voicing personal opinions while seen in your capacity as an employee...

So the lesson that he's learnt is that offending anyone will get you cancelled? Using this same standard Malema should be in jail by now.

Seems you are upset that someone piemped on him.

The lesson he learnt is that he should choose his words carefully, he is a public figure.

Julius has been taken to account by afriforum and other bodies for his comments. don't make as if he just gets to say what he wants and gets away with it

I'm not upset about anything. I'm trying to understand the different rules for different people. I thought Apartheid was finished. This is an example of cancel culture at it's most evil. Why do you think there are good citizens who are prepared to fight this? Simply because it's wrong and must not be allowed to grow. Where does it end?

i just refuted your claim that there are different rules for different people. With specific reference to JM.

Any statement made can be taken up within the legal system. I agree that not all of them are, but the rules are the same for everyone.

Are you claiming that if Dean Elgar or any other national player made the same statement that he would not be taken to task?

What is the "this" that you are referring to ?

You refuted nothing at all. If it was horses for courses Julius would be kicked out of Parliament. So what is the legal standing in the Teeger case?

"This" is the absolute overreaction to the situation.
