I want to buy me a Q9450 becuase I here its gr8!! Does anyone know where I could buy it for a resonable price and what do you guys think of it? I see you could buy it from cyber orange. Anyone have experience with them?

rather get a q6600 and over clock to that one ;)

http://www.pricecheck.co.za/ ?

Noooh, rather get a Q9300 is you were thinking of a Q6600.

And I never get this.. So why not rather get a Q9450 if you can, and OC to whatever you want. Every chip can OC, and in fact these new 45nm chips can OC much better than a Q6600.

You can get them at www.cyberorange.co.za for R3000-ish, but they should go for cheaper once some bigger places stock them.

Intel Isleton
Geforce 8500GT(Waiting for 9 Series)
1.5 GB Corsair DDR2 667
Gigabyte Solotion
LG '17' Monitor

But do any of you guys have experience with cyber orange?

I just went to see their shop about an hour ago, placed an order for tomorrow so shall see what happens but Chris seems pretty jacked up so i doubt i will have any hassles :)

The ass made me wait 3 f...... weeks to decide my PSU that I sent back to him was faulty and replaced it with a lesser piece of crap. Last time I ever deal with CyberSUCK but definitely not the last time I bad mouth them. BUMHOLES!

THe Q6600 is an "easy" overclocker because of it's low FSB (1066).

The Q9450 is a difficult overclocker because you need a very expensive Motherboard to overclock it even slightly.

Don't expect the same overclocking as the QX9650, because that one can be overclocked without the FSB needing to be OC'ed.

Shall be trying it with a P5K next week though the 500 plus fsb needed for a semi decent oc will not be nice. Need to make sure i cool the NB and SB sufficiently (noise noise here i come) :D

500MHz FSB is going to be virtually impossible and not with 4 cores going.
45nm Quads don't do FSB well at all...
Think 450 but that's about it. Good luck though, if your board has enough PLL juice and VTT you should be fine for maybe 466MHz if you lucky. I just may be wrong though as I have no experience with retail samples of 45nm only ES which are not always great

Shall let you know as soon as i have attempted it. Getting an E8200 today to practice with a bit in the meantime :)

see now that will be loads of fun as it will do high FSB :)

Depends on what your main use of the pc is ie gaming E8200 at the moment will probably be a better option (will test and see as i have a Q6600 as well)
For anything to do with rendering and decoding then a Q6600 will more than likely beat the E8200 rather easily

yea i got the 8400 today

waiting for time to hook it up and see how i can push it

i read that the 8200 just does not oc well as well the 8400 and 8500

although it did hit 3.8ghz on air but i saw someone hit 4.3ghz on air with 8400 and i have watercooling so just maybe

I've heard and seen rare samples of these 45nm Chips hit 4.8Ghz on water :o
Yep insane, but possible.
I'm interested in how that E8400 is going to do. I'm thinking at least 4.3GHz on air and that will make it scream through benchmarks and games that are not GPU bound.

I think if you can buy 45nm CPU over 65nm, but if overclocking isn't your thing either one will do. Just good to know with the 45nm they run cooler and need less juice

Just picked up my E8200 so shall see what it can do shortly :)

p.s. Got it through Cyber Orange, ordered yesterday late afternoon and fetched it half an hour ago. Pretty good service i would say :D

Edit : Fook this 3850 is hotter, way hotter than my 8800GT

Is there even stock of the Q9xxx anywhere? I phoned Sahara to check stock and they haven't received yet ... Rectron and Axiz haven't even updated their pricelists with them yet.
