The reason Android is laggy.

The issue is still apparent -- even with the custom mods the problem is not completely resolved, hence when you compare to an competitor OS you will notice the lag; tracking lag issues are less apparently if you quickly swipe, as opposed to a slow drag e.g. Drag to refresh.

Similarly if you have a number of active processes you ultimately will reach a point where the lag becomes very apparent, so too with a complex web page.

Again a number of the stock issues can be fixed by custom roms, but this IMO is not a good comparison as the majority of Android users will not be technically proficient to do this & it's not required on the competitor OSs.

The Sense UI is standard on all HTCs.

And therein lies the rub. Fine for tech savvy users to discuss solutions via an internet forum but what about the mom's and pop's that upgrade from their Nokia E75's to an android device?

Apparently you don't get it, the sense Ui is not a fix for the framework and SDK issues; it added GPU acceleration, but did nothing to change the SDK or framework. I.e. it's better but not fixed.

I agree, that's always been my argument.

You keep scratching your head as to why Desire users don't notice the issue. Apparently you don't read what I am writing or what you're asking.

For the most part the run-of-the-mill users with whom you're so enamoured won't use the phone for much more than what is initially offered as "majority of Android users will not be technically proficient to do" more than what the phone was created to to.

So your argument is the more advanced users might experience these lag issues, especially pertaining to HTC, yet these are the very users in a position to do something about it.

Comparing Android to iOS and now Win Phone 7 is also a bit unfair when you include all devices as both Windows and iOS have very specific hardware that they cater for.

If the android team could fine tune to 1 or 2 phones the issue would be much less noticeable.

Also from what I understand the Android team has also spent some time with the Samsung guys to see what they've done to improve things.

I have a Galaxy s2 and am very happy with how it works, so I can only imagine it getting better.

Actually many of the HTC Windows phones are hackable and upgradable to Android. They work like a charm ;)

That was my point, Android is built to run on most devices while WP7 and iOS are made for very specific devices.
