New (India-built) Renault Duster SA launch date confirmed
Renault has confirmed the official launch date for the new (Indian-built) Duster. Here’s what we know so far…
In June 2026, we reported that the first shipment of Indian-built Renault Duster units is on its way to our shores. Well, Renault South Africa has now announced when this model will officially arrive in our market.
While the local powertrain lineup remains unconfirmed, in overseas markets, this Duster is available with the choice of three powertrain options. Available with either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch transmission with the same number of cogs, the Turbo TCe 160 1.3-litre, four-cylinder turbopetrol unit produces 120 kW and 280 N.m of torque. The Turbo TCe 100 1.0-litre turbo-triple motor is exclusively coupled with a six-speed manual and produces 74 kW and 160 N.m. The E-Tech 160 hybrid powertrain comprises a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine coupled with electric motors – the latter fed by a 1.4 kWh battery – developing a combined system output of 118 kW and 205 N.m.
While the local model lineup has yet to be announced, this model is available in six flavours overseas: Authentic, Evolution, Adventure, Techno+, Iconic, and Iconic launch edition. As a reminder, the current, Romanian-built Duster is available in Zen, Intens and Zen 4WD guise, priced from R489 999 to R549 999.
