The Renault Kwid Thread (Kwid Lovers)

My wifes friends mom has just got one, vw polo got stolen...surprise surprise...not.

anyway - it interesting to note that the steering column stalks for your indicators and windscreen wipers have been swopped around again. i drive a 2015 renault duster (just got it from my dad) and the indicators are on the left and the wipers are on the right, in the kwid - its the other way around....????? Can anybody explain this? why why why have they changed it???????

Doesn't it have something to do with one being a Renault and the other being a Dacia?

I bought a kwid Dynamique back in november 2016 yes the reviews are not all great and yes the safety rating is bad one thing I will say its one tough little car and does the job for a town car I recently traded it in for a clio iv as the kwid is a bit small on the inside its not all bad but its not also all great

10 Lowest-Scoring Vehicles CAR Tested In 2017

It’s often said that there aren’t many truly terrible new vehicles on the market anymore. And a glance back at the 99 cars CAR magazine tested in 2017 proves that this is mostly the case.

Indeed, half of the 10 lowest-scoring vehicles you see below actually each managed to register a tally of 70 points or more, which isn’t bad at all. Yes, the competition really has become tough.

Still, we thought it’d be interesting to take a look at the vehicles that find themselves at the foot of the 2017 table after each undergoing our extensive road-testing procedure (click the vehicle name to read the full road test)…

9=. Mitsubishi Outlander 2,4 GLS 4WD CVT: 72/100

Mitsubishi has given the Outlander another update. Again, though, it’s purely cosmetic…

9=. Range Rover Evoque Convertible Si4 HSE Dynamic: 72/100

Occupying the most niche of niches, this Evoque is a peculiarity that’s surprisingly endearing…

7=. Toyota Etios Sedan 1,5 Sprint: 71/100

The Etios has received some visual updates but, underneath everything remains unchanged…

7=. Mercedes-Benz GLA220d 4Matic 7G-DCT: 71/100

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLA (in 4Matic form) stakes its claim against the smallest member of BMW’s X family…

6. Haval H2 1,5T Lux AT: 70/100

With the launch of this light SUV, the Haval brand takes a bold leap into the South African market…

4=. Fiat Panda 0,9 Twinair 4×4 Cross: 68/100

SA’s smallest 4×4 crossover is big on charm (and, somewhat surprisingly, just as big on thirst)…

4=: Fiat Tipo 1,4 Lounge: 68/100

Entering a cutthroat segment in which it hasn’t competed since the Bravo, Fiat is hedging its bets on the new Tipo…

2=. Mahindra TUV300 1,5 CRDE T8: 67/100

Mahindra expands its crossover line-up with the TUV300. Is the only model in the TUV range enough to make a mark?

2=. Nissan NP200 1,5 dCi ICE: 67/100

The ever-popular half-tonne bakkie segment gains a cool new derivative. Is it enough to keep a restless buying public interested?

1. Renault Kwid 1,0 Dynamique: 54/100

Although it looks funky and is chock-full of kit, this budget crossover’s flaws are hard to accept…

So, garish exterior decals and tacky interior embellishments take precedence over including safety features like ABS/EBD or a passenger-side air-bag - nice one, Renault - way to go to keep that dismal NCAP crash test rating!

:whistle:

Followed a Kwid going around a traffic circle. It kept lifting the back rear tyre to pee on the side of the roundabout.
Hate to see what will happen if it goes a little faster.
Lift all 4 legs to have a pee?

Bloody dangerous.

From the first launch they were banking on the touchscreen and it worked so it's not surprising that they promoting it with useless additions.

Why is this such a problem? Even if it was just touching the ground, it would have no load on it anyway. It is not doing anything anyway. Many hatches will lift wheels when driven around a corner quickly. It is just a consequence of the suspension travel.

Renault to build new car on Kwid platform – report

A fresh report out of India suggests that Renault is developing a new global compact car set to share its platform with the budget-beating Kwid.

According to LiveMint, the new hatchback is being developed by the Renault-Nissan Technical Centre in Chennai and will run on the CMF-A platform already used by the Kwid and the Datsun redi-Go.

Citing unnamed sources “with direct knowledge of the matter”, the Indian publication said that the development would entail an investment of up to $400-million.

The report added that a new compact SUV would likely also later be built on the platform. Both are expected to measure less than four metres in length to take advantage of tax laws in India.

One of the sources told LiveMint that the new models could be previewed by concept cars at Auto Expo 2018 in February.

Great stuff, another death-trap lol

Given that we don't have the speed the car was going, yes you do have a point. However if this was in normal traffic and going the same speed as the other cars or even 10 - 20 kmh faster, then it just shows a badly designed chassis which could be life threatening if you swerve in an emergency and the car is eager to flip over... I chuck my classic beetle around corners and besides for the obvious and controllable understeer there's nothing dangerous happening, and that's a 70 year old chassis design on a 46 year old car...
