Because it is lifting a wheel does not mean it is going to topple over more than a car that has unnecessarily long suspension travel to keep trailing the wheel touching on the ground. Yes, it is cheap and nasty and probably 'scary' to look at - but that is what this car is. Your classic beetle probably has infinitely worse handling and would topple over as easily (if it could generate the momentum).
 
Yesterday I went to a gay funeral here in Rustenburg it seems, Renault kwid is famous in the gay community.

Thinking of swapping my Honda brio for the kwid :-).
 
Don't just don't get a Kwid. Unless you are happy to muddle along at 20 km/h. Anything faster...

Like The champ once said most people are so desperate to drive, they will buy anything cheap without checking safety and other stuff first.

Ahh yes, Renault's Polo Vivo, one can get you killed at any robot or stop Street or just pull a disappearing act, while the other may just end you due to a small gust of wind.

This car has shot up to being Renault's bread and butter very quickly, I must say, not even the Sandero could do this, despite all the marketing it got, from what I remember.


Anyway, this was bound to happen I guess, people want cars because our public transport isn't exactly safe and with the rising cost of owning a car, something really good and brand new is hard to come by at under R150K these days, although if people do research and negotiate a little , they can get into something much safer 2nd hand.
 
I reckon that the big chunk of Kiwid purchases are done by the car rental companies.

I would say your are right. My local Renault sells a lot of cars and I've never seen so many new cars ready for delivery as now, all Kwids. They do sell a lot of bulk orders.

Yet of on my daily commute through town I seldom see a Kwid, actually I could not find a single one on the road.

The problem with this is it will damage the brand’s reputation. We’ve seen that the cars aren’t t built and quite a few people have issues with them. I’ve seen many comments say I’ll never buy another Renault after this one!

Indeed, short term gain, but long term loss. It's such a shame, just as they have gotten over the whole "never buy a French car" stigma, with great recent models like the Duster and Sandero.
 
Renault has announced a voluntary recall of the 800 cc version of the Kwid.

The car has been recalled for a steering system issue but Renault hasn't disclosed the number of cars that might be affected by this issue.

Renault has sent out letters to owners of the Kwid 0.8L notifying them to get their cars inspected at their nearest Renault service centre.

The letter also mentions that the workshop would inspect the steering system for overall functionality and safety. The dealers will also carry out necessary repairs, if required at no extra cost to the customer.

The Renault Kwid comes with two engine choices - 799 cc and 999 cc. Both versions use the same electric power steering rack.

However, it is not clear whether the Kwid 1.0L is also affected by the same issue.
