Fact is they have beaten us more than we have beaten them, by a long margin.

The distinction is more pro era (1994 onwards) vs amateur era (pre 1994)

It is a well known fact that in the amateur era, SA was the only country in the world with a positive win ratio against NZ.

In the pro era... and collectively... correct. Also since readmission we play NZ frequently where in the amateur era it was occasional tours...

SA still has the best record against NZ, of competing nations, although in the last 10 years that is probably Ireland.

Since readmission (1992) which more or less coincides with the pro era (1994) the head to head vs NZ is as follows:
Played 69, NZ have won 47, SA have won 20 and there has been 2 draws....

In the amateur era Played 37, NZ won 15, SA won 20, with 2 draws

In the last 10 years Played 19, NZ won 12, SA won 6, with 1 draw

In the last 10 years - played 9, NZ won 4, Ireland 5...

I been using IPTV for well over a year now. Dumped DSTV back in Jan 2023... works well for the most part.. in terms of coverage, quality of feed etc etc there's really no viable substitute for DSTV. Talking purely from a sports perspective. One can get the full bouquet on IPTV but the quality is 720p at best. NZ Sky punts 1080p streams occasionally but not lately (on the IPTV service I use anyway).

For a very brief period during the RWC I had access to a 4k stream (thanks Cavedog). It was utter bliss!!!! Absolutely amazing!! I have a HTPC connected to a 50inch 4k Samsung tv and using Kodi and a m3u playlist I was able to watch Stans 4k coverage of the RWC. 3 or 4 games is all but better than nothing!

Disappointed in that result. Our record against NZ at age group levels is exemplary.

We make a lot of noise about the state of schoolboy rugby in SA but we rarely see that form replicated in the U18/20's national sides... Is it due to political medaling? Are our school teams better managed and coached than the national age group sides?

Sharks really irritate me, I honestly believe they bad for SA rugby. Let me elaborate.

The Lions, with a modest squad, have been fairly successful over the last couple of seasons. Their secret to said success is retaining the vast majority of their player's for the last 3 to 4 seasons. In doing so they build a strong team dynamic, formulate and strengthen combinations and create an environment where players are happy and playing for each other.

Along come the Sharks and their fat American backed cheque book and they flex their purchasing power by buying the Lions star players, the Tshituka brothers followed by Hendricks, along with a host of Bok stars. Now, if they were dominating URC, I would say money well spent but they absolutely nowhere while at the same time weakening other franchises, notably the Lions.

As a Lions fan this really pisses me off! And apologies in advance if I've insulted any Sharks fans...

The irony in all this is the following, the player of the match in the Sharks last 4 matches is none other than the little known (and no doubt cheaply acquired) Siya Masuku!!

I can sympathize because you have lost players you like but that is a reality of professional rugby. I would prefer good Lions players go to another SA provincial team with a big chequebook rather than disappearing to Europe.

Also, having Etsebeth play for an SA provincial team is far better than having him play in France.

From my understanding his conditioning was terrible when he arrived from the Cheetahs, something which was turned around by Plumtree. FYI he was born in Paulpietersberg, KZN.

Last 6 years, 11 of those 19 matches, (with Rassie in charge), its 5 wins each and a draw, not a bad turn around at all.

It does show the damage done to the Bok brand by the isolation years and then how politics consistantly impacted their return to rugby, more so internal nonsense, as clubs and co refused to move forward and back scratching, old boys clubs and corruption inside SARU, which we have regularly seen scandals boiling to the surface over the last 30 years.

SARU boardroom for a long time has been Boks own worst enemy, success coming despite their efforts, rather than because of them.
 
Under 20 Rugby Championship round 2 today. First up is NZ vs Arg and then Aus vs SA at 11am.

NZ 7 - 0 up after 2 min. Could be a rout...

Hiding!! Wasn't expecting that. I thought after their showing against Australia, they would be super competitive against NZ...
 
20 minute red card for South Africa for one of the players going in head first into a ruck. Just absolutely brain dead.

I think we used to be bigger in age group but with professionalism, all the young kids are big these days.

We're struggling against Australia at the moment.
