Argentina in Argentina is never an easy side to beat. As far back as 93 we only just squeaked in 29-26 in Mendoza. And this is arguably their best side in history against a heavily modified Bok side. I missed the 1st half, the better of the 2 halves but the 2nd was a scrappy, stop/start affair where both sets of players looked to be gassed. Rugby isn't really a sport made it to be played in 30C+ but we do. Our lineout ball was never guaranteed but a scrum penalty almost always was. Manie had an opportunity in the 78th minute to win us the game but true to form fluffed it. Such a dynamic 10 on attack, reasonably sound on defense, but his kicking game is the Achilles heel that most likely will cost him a long and prosperous Bok career. He becomes hard to pick when he's not landing those clutch kicks. The Boks reverted to type, slowing the game down, bashing it up, up front, making good metres but failing to convert. 6-3 was all the scoring either team could manage in the 2nd half. But that's all Argentina needed for the W. It's all on the line in Nelspruit. I'm fairly confident the Boks will get the job done there.

Pumas played well. Thier lineouts and loose game were top class. Rucks was good too.

They deserve that win. I won't cheapen it by saying we gave it to them, they played well and good rugby.

yeah Rassie said Manie was slotting them all week and during warm up. It is clear now that Manie isn't as ice cool as Pollard or SFM and really feels the pressure. He can't be on the field without a backup kicker which will hurt his career. Both Pollard and SFM (who can kick) are able to play other positions but Manie can not.

Even beating them at home is not a foregone conclusion.

They score tries at will. Top scorers in TRC.

In Rassie I trust.

Two World Cups and two seasons of Chasing the Sun and the fair-weather supporters still don't understand what the goal is.

Springboks kan bekostig om hulle proewe te hou 1st tier lande. How many other countries can do that at the moment.

I don't believe criticism of certain muppets that will never be Bok material warrants a flippant 'fair weather supporter' jibe. Yhere are under-20 liteys that show more promise in one game than some of these stick-with-picks do their season. Look at that Elton muppet, same comments were made, same keep picking him attitude and what happened, vokkol, he has no bmt to this day. Libbok, du Toit and Moerat are in that same bracket = numbers sure but they offer nothing and never will (theres a few others, just using what's in my mind atm). Valid criticism would probably have done the Wallabies some good instead of where they are right now ... no team should be above criticism and no coach should keep picking muppets as much as he is loved. And he is loved by so, so many of us.

My opnion anyway

Not the end of the world to lose a game to the pumas that are performing well, I doubt any of the top 5 teams would have had an easier time against them, especially at home, congrats either way. Look forward to nelspruit pressure will be on both teams.

We honestly trying new things and new players and stuff and can afford to do it for another 3 odd years before the next world cup. rather have them do it now and sort things out early, dropping a rank or two isn't the end of the world either.....

Libbock is statistically a bad kicker, so while Rassie may see something in him, right now.. he is one of the worst full time kickers in the country on a provincial level.

So it's not about fair weather supporters

I think current Bok fly-half pecking order should be:
1) Handré
2) SFM
3) Willemse
4) Nohamba
5) Masuku
6) du Preez
7) Bosch
8) Goosen
9) Cheslin
10) Faf
11) Manie

Problem is...this isn't new.
The World Cup showed Manie up, yet Rassie still persists....

And Manie also kicked too far when going for the left hand corner. You just don't make those kinds of mistakes at Test level.

Also what I don't understand about the Boks is we fight all game to get into their 22, and then we do a, not even 50/50 chip kick, but 30/70, and we inevitably give away the ball and they kick it all the way back down the field. I don't see other teams doing it so I don't know why we do these basic things.

I wanted to say it but waited for someone else to say that. Why do we accept Marx throwing such horrible throws but not Dweba?
There's more to it in the case of Marx.

The guy has played about 2 full games (in minutes) since his RWC injury. All at the Boks and almost each week with a new lock pairing.

It is a definite issue though because Bongi has not been faultless either.

Our lineouts has been a shambles this whole year no matter who is at 2.

Important point about the locks you make. Not only the hooker to blame. Remember we had two rookie locks yesterday.

Well we don't really have to win them either.

Technically we already won the cup. Arg will have to win us with 38 odd points + bonus point to take the cup.
