The game was intense & tough. Not the most beautiful as there were a lot of handling errors and passes going nowhere.
Out lineouts were a mess again but the biggest concern were the amount of turnovers we conceded - not good at all. Fix those things and we could have won by 10+
Defense was good as NZ couldn't score a try, yet we still slipped 33 tackles.
Willie and Pollard had a poor game. MoM should have been either Marx or Kolisi.
But a win is a win, especially against the old foe. Now to tame the resurgent Pumas and win that trophy!

Yeah, it was a frustrating game to watch! Way too close for way too long. I was emotionally shattered after the game.

NZ absolutely pumped us at the breakdowns. It's been a long time since we've conceded that many turnovers at the breakdown and it was very surprising to see. I was often found wondering to myself, if the ABs were legal at the breakdowns. I think on 1 or 2 occasions there may not have been a clear release from the tackler. Nonetheless it was an area that really, really hurt us.

First couple of scrums were magnificent. NZs scrum is strong AF so to gain an advantage there was surprising. We weren't really able to sustain that advantage and NZ soon after gained parity at scrum time.

As you eluded to our lineouts were a mess. One feels, week to week, the ABs learnt a lot more about our game, than we did about theirs and they were better prepared this week. Having said that we conceded 4 tries last week and 0 this week so we fixed the defensive lapses from last week. Also CT stadium not as fast as Ellis Park perhaps?

And what a beautiful stadium it is!! Absolutely stunning!! I am so happy it is being used and Newlands retired. As much as our grand old stadiums have their history and sentimental appeal, the soccer world cup stadiums are modern, beautiful, easily accessible and worthy hosts of our national sporting heroes. Surprised no test match for Nelson Mandela Bay this year?? Another stunning stadium!! I wish Moses Mabhida was being used and Kings Park retired! It's tragic that they holding onto that relic when they have architecturally one of the most iconic stadiums in the world in Moses Mabhida.

I've been to Ellis Park when it's sold out and I've been to FNB stadium when it is sold out. What amazes me is how accessible the one is and the other is not. This is the nature of the modern stadium and how they designed around easy in/out. You'll take hours filling Ellis Park with 55k fans but FNB stadium can pack 95k in within minutes. It's quite remarkable!!

Anyway, Tonyball continues to be a necessary part of this squads growth. Perhaps it is not a style we should be playing against NZ, where Tonyball is by default how they play and what they been weaned on, from the time they 5 years old and and get handed their first rugby ball.

We looked incredibly clumsy at times, throwing passes willy nilly and running from anywhere and everywhere. It was a bit of a horror show at times but the team continued with it. I'm happy they did. I'm happy there is buy in and total commitment regarding Tonyball. Rassie risked it all, 2 weeks in a row, playing Tonyball and won on both occasions when the team effort was way below its best.

Argentina consciously changed their style of play from a forward orientated 10 man game to an expansive 15 man game (maybe 15-20 years ago). On their day they play a beautiful brand of rugby. Anyone who watched their 67-27 demolition of Australia will attest to that. Some of the most spectacular tries I think I've ever seen! Now a lot of that might be down to Australia's passive defense. They seemed to be standing off quite a bit and generally seemed quite gassed going into the last 20 but taking nothing away from Argentina. They were magnificent

Guys if you haven't watched the game, do yourselves a favour and watch it. Australia were 20-3 up after 30 minutes. They lost the next 50 minutes 64-7. I've never seen anything like it!!

Anyway ladies and gentlemen, the Rugby Championship is ours to lose now. Just Argentina stands in our way. Apathy or complacency will not go unpunished against them, so we had better arrive prepared. On their day the Argies can beat just about anyone. They've beaten France at home (weakened French side mind you 2nd/3rd team), they've beaten NZ in NZ quite convincingly scoring 38 points. That's a lot of points to score against NZ in NZ. They made the 2023 RWC semi finals and they've just hammered Australia by a record margin. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE ARGENTINA!!!!

I have no shame in admitting I lost my mind when it flew over, hands in air, on my feet, shouting at the top of my lungs for no damn good reason. I was directly in line with its flight path, directly underneath where it exited

Btw, does everyone agree about the Eben try being disallowed by TMO? One of the angles look like it touched the line, then was pulled back. I don't see much chat about it (cause we won?) - but curious anyway

On field call was no try so there needed to be enough proof to overturn this call. I don't think the video footage was sufficient to overturn. Players on the field didn't look at all confident either.

Ahhh. Possibly the friend of my sister was an air stewardess and not pilot. Sure she said pilot though. Will check.
 
The IRB rankings are officially a farse.

We have beaten aus twice, beaten nz twice. We are on the same points as before it all and Ireland still within one point of us basically.

They haven't played, i get it. But it's really stupid. We should be way out ahead with ireland needing their wins to catch up

Its based on the ranking points not the team. Plus Boks are way ahead at top rank barring Ireland. If the points difference is more than 10 the Boks get nothing, plus home teams gets 3 added to their ranking points when determining the difference between the two teams - to simulate the advantage of playing at home.

Currently even beating the All Blacks will get the Boks little points especially at home.

Team at the top has the most to lose, one slip up will hurt the rankings

Ireland praying we lose one game against the Pumas.

And worst of all...we don't even play them in the end of year tour.

So we have to listen to their kak on social media for how long still?
