The usual crowd conveniently missed their favorite media plant going full anti-DA? Interesting.

I guess it's more anti-Steenhuisen. I wonder if he is preparing the ground for a challenge to the DA leadership. I can't realistically see him backing Mpho though. Who else is he eyeing?

Yeah I'd peg that as being more anti-Steenhuisen than anti-DA.

And in all honesty, unless there is a big turnaround in electoral fortunes for the DA next year, then John can be lambasted for his leadership as much as Mmusi was.

That's the thing, whether it's John or any other leader it makes no difference. Their strings are ultimately pulled by the social media Karen...

But it is still a metric to measure a leader against.

They should just make Zille president for life. She added over 2.4m votes and JS has managed to shave off near 1.5m.

Unfortunately leaders need to get elected in the DA. Inconvenience of real democracy. Unlike ASA where Mashaba is the supreme leader and ANC (I don’t need to elaborate there).

The chest pains regarding Zille is about who the DA members vote to lead them. Get better candidates to challenge incumbents if this is unpalatable

ActionSA Gauteng chairperson Bongani Baloyi resigned on Tuesday, citing an attempt by party leader Herman Mashaba to remove him as the provincial chairperson and make him the national spokesperson.

At a press briefing in Sandton, Baloyi told journalists that Mashaba called him into a meeting last week and told him that he did not trust Baloyi and could no longer work with him.

“Mashaba said there were irreconcilable differences between us and could no longer work with me. He then also said he had problems with how I have been managing the province,” said Baloyi.

Most probably because you can't, no leader in the ANC has ever refused to let go like Zille, not even Zuma.

Coming to Mashaba, he is the founding leader of the party, believe it or not, the party is only just over 2 years old, hardly anything that warrants Mashaba being called a supreme leader.

What is Baloyi's latest excuse? In the DA it was being a black albatross. In ASA it's that they can't trust him to lead.

Seems to me that this gentleman overplayed his hand and overestimated his importance. He is the common denominator in all his resignations. He now has zero chance of being anyone important in politics. None of the other tiny political parties (RISE, etc.) will be a majority partner in the coalitions.

It's a shame that he let his arrogance and pride destroy a promising political career. He will soon be forgotten much like that Magashule Gana chap. It's cold outside the DA!

You don't need to be a majority partner to be someone important in politics, the Al Jamah and Makwarela are fine examples.

Fly-by-nights are not important for more than a few weeks / months. If you are equating Baloyi to a Makwarela or the Al Jamah fellow then you agree he has truly ruined his own career.

I am not equating him to anyone, just showing proving to you that you don't need to be a majority partner to be important in politics.

Makwarela has certainly been important, but in every way that the ANC and EFF didn't want him to be.
