The point is:
  1. It's another case of an ex-DA oke running off to other parties, etc and then starting his own party, that will either go nowhere or get a handful of seats and implode within another election cycle and be plagued by infighting post-election (COPE).
  2. This will only fragment the opposition vote more than it already is.
  3. What will this "brilliant" new party exactly bring to the table that others (the other 299+ registered parties) can't?

And why is that any of their business? Are they not supposed to be focusing on their DA which is growing from strength to strength user Zille and Steenhuisen?

And please stop with that nonsense of fragmenting the opposition, each and every party is an individual party and must find its way to grow, it's no one's fault if the DA is incompetent and chose Zille's way.

It's not really that visible, but I think he's right that they'll go for it next. It does make it a bit complex as the EFF want equal share so if they got TSH they could work it in. Now it would risk instability as the ANC and EFF don't really get along despite the Lesufi/Mashatile factor. The ANC don't like to work with the EFF if they can help it cause the ANC extract a very heavy price in comparison to what they bring in council numbers.

It's true, the more the opposition is fragmented, the harder it is to create stable coalitions (A 10+ party coalition, isn't exactly stable), etc... And in the end, the ANC wins from the fragmented opposition.

There is an easy solution to that, grow you own party and need only a small percentage from another party to govern, or even better, grow your party to the point where you are able to govern outright without anyone's help.

But I understand, it's impossible to do that when you have decided to remain a 20% party, but again, whose fault is that?

Something I relish is that if you compare the run-up to, the planning, the execution, etc of the DA's Congress and the ANC's National Conference, you'll find two vastly different experiences.

Absolutely...

I mean you can be sure that the runup and planning for the DA was filled with chaos and confusion but the normal level of chaos and confusion when organising a big event like this.... but the operation of the conference will be mostly smooth and I doubt they'll end up having fights and needing heavily armed guards to protect the delegates from each other.

I think the fact that firm control of the party is invested in a couple of people makes things easier, Zille will fire you so fast your head will spin I you start any nonsense.

The ANC used to be like that during Mandela's time, he simply told them, "we will never haves contest, Mbeki will lead the party, Cyril stop sulking, we'll fix you up with some BEE deal." Everyone was happy. When Peter Mokaba started some nonsense he dealt with him and when Holomisa got cheeky he expelled his behind.

Even Mbeki's reelection was also without any drama. What is happening with the DA simply points to the balance of forces being heavily stacked to one side, Zille to her credit has made sure things remains that way by sacrificing the growth of the party to keep herself and her inner circle firmly in control.

Wait until there is a shift and you will see, fortunately that doesn't look like it will happen in the near future.

Yup, no guards, running on schedule, etc... Total opposite of the chaos that was the ANC's conference.

Again, planning and managing things work well when you have firm control of things, I made the ANC example to show you there is no big conspiracy against Zille, but feel free to be a victim.

A few years ago, DA guys were hailing him for the work he supposedly did to "fix" Midvaal Municipality. Now that is all forgetten.

LMAO. I post articles related to what's happening in politics, the DA is part of our politics, no matter how much it breaks your heart (I know the mere mentioning of the DA brings back the memories from the "Pappas bully" incident of yours :crying:).

I don't just post DA-related articles as you insinuate. Funny, how you fixate on my DA posting alone... :unsure:
