They are now testing the voting process. Delegates must hold up a green card for yes, and a red card for no, which are then counted.

The congress resumes. It will now deal with constitutional amendments.

Exactly my POV as well.

A bold DA leader John Steenhuisen has put his head on the line, saying while it was premature to speak about the looming 2024 elections, he is willing to state that should the party not increase its electoral support, he would be willing to step down.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the DA’s national federal elective conference on Saturday.

Cool.

What do you okes think of this?

According to the latest public information, DA is either polling at 22% (internal polling) or 23.3% (SRF) according to the cover story in this week's Financial Mail (paywalled). A bit low for me, I really hope to see it closer to 25% or so.

The DA’s own research has its support at 22% and above for the past 20 months. It reached a peak of 29%, but fell again as a result of the drama unfolding in Tshwane, where the party’s coalition has now fielded four mayors in seven years.

The Social Research Foundation, a new player in the political party polling game, is tracking the DA at 23.3%, according to a survey released on Monday.

There is a peculiar paragraph in the story though, which isn't further elaborated upon, which is just wrong. Under Mmusi, the DA is losing wards almost every time there was a by-election.

The DA’s performance in by-elections since the 2021 local government polls has been grim, with the party even losing a ward in the Western Cape to the ANC. If by-elections are anything to go by, the party could even end up with less support than in 2019.

At the very least, 22% and 23.3% are greater than 20%...

John Steenhuisen says he is ready to be led by Mpho Phalatse if he is not re-elected as DA leader on Sunday.
"I am a democrat, I have always been led by many people in the Democratic Alliance. If I am not successful on Sunday I will take my seat back in Parliament, and I will work every day to make sure that Mpho Phalatse is the most successful DA leader that we have ever had. That is what democrats do, we do not walk out, we do not throw our hands up and run factions and fractions. And I think every candidate should be doing the same," he said.

An amendment that would have ensured that the DA has a federal deputy leader failed when delegates were voting on amendments of the party's constitution. This is one of the amendments that saw a division in the congress to the extent that the presiding officer had to not only call for a rerun of the of vote, but there had to be a manual vote of those who voted for and against the amendment. As the counting was taking place, delegates from Gauteng sang: "We are ready for a deputy leader". But in the end, the amendment did not pass

Ok, so no Deputy Federal Leader then.

They probably wont score more votes. The only way they will grow is if ANC voters dont turn up.

The VF+ voters arent coming back and more supporters will go to PA.
