I believe that when Christopher Pappa’s generation leads the DA, that’s when the party will seriously start picking up momentum.

Like the ANC, many of these parties (in my view) need new faces desperately.

But good luck to the DA in 2024.

If that generation managed to get rid of Zille.

They don't really have a problem with JS himself, the other parties usually have implosions when Gogo comes onto the scene.

If they were to insist Gogo should be the leader of the UF (unlikely), then it would be chaos alright...

She declined to confirm or deny whether she will be contesting the Gauteng provincial leader position and said she needs time to process what people have been telling her. She hinted that she has been approached to consider standing. DM

Now that would make more sense for Mpho to run for.

Now that would make more sense for Mpho to run for.

And it would make even more sense that she will also be defeated there by Msimanga, the problem with the good Dr is that she seems not be able to appreciate that she is not where she is through any form of popular support.

She needs to calm down and reassess things, losing again is not going to look good for her political career, she needs to pick a side, stick with it and bide her time, just like what Solly is doing now, perhaps her inexperience in politics is showing.

It's kind of weird thinking though. I rate Zille as a better politician than JS. Hill-Lewis is also better than JS but I recognise he needs a bit more time and he is really doing a fantastic job as CT mayor.

But is it because she'd be so successful that other parties like to target her?

But are the DA willing to consider someone from outside DA as a leader? If not then it’s a pointless exercise because those parties will lose their voice from day one

It's questionable whether some of the conservative electorate also left because he was black.

Zille introduced BEE into DA party policy when she stood against Zuma yet this portion of the electorate only conveniently started questioning the DA's support of BEE under Maimane.

If they started supporting a party which clearly has roots in pro Apartheid movements and causes i.e VF+, its fair to say that a significant amount of them are racist.

Zille is old that's why I don't like her as much. But she is probably the best that the DA has to offer.

Others don't like her because she sometimes say things that's still classically liberal, that is seen as extremely far right these days by progressive types. The same people that think the DA cannot grow without a black leader but also cannot explain why all black people didn't vote for Mmusi.

Comparing Zille and Mmusi's time 2014 and 2019 isint actually fair. Zille was competing against Zuma and Maimane against Ramaphosa when the New Dawn was in full swing. Maimane was with his flaws but had Zille been competing against Ramaphosa, she too would not have done as she did in 2014.

Critics of Maimane also hesitate to give him any credit for 2016 when he was virtually competing against Zuma

Very successful in building the party and very successful in destroying it, not really the kind of success anyone is looking for. It's not only other parties who have a problem with her, even those within the party are at peace with just how much of a liability she is, but no one is brave enough to take her on.
