Not sure why John never focused on just getting a qualification though as a backup incase politics fails? He has the funds and opportunity. Many others in politics have done studies while they were involved, even Malema did so.

Hersov, once the hero of many in these circles mentioned in this letter that the ANC has the second most intellectual leaders in SA politics (albeit with failed ideology) and he thinks the VF+ have the most intellectuals.

He feels the ANC have more intellectuals than DA. Surely @surface, Hersov is now a traitor and all stuff he was praised for should be forgotten?

Point is that they are trying desperately hard to win back Afrikaans votes. Johnno has even done ads in Afrikaans.

He never did any in Isizulu (the main language of his hometown) when he is from KZN and doing stuff in Isizulu would have made him look very good in terms of boosting relations with IFP (a potential very important coalition partner for DA). It would have also boosted his image in KZN and nationally as Zulu's are after all the biggest ethnic group in KZN.

Ok? But he isn't really fluent, I heard him last night on KykNet Verslag, and although he tries his best (I'll credit him for that), he eventually switches back to English...

It would have also boosted his image in KZN and nationally as Zulu's are after all the biggest ethnic group in KZN.

Maybe. Although I've only heard him use some Zulu words here and there.

But the big problem is costs and stuff probably. So they'd most likely opt for the first two or three...

He tries in Afrikaans but not Zulu (the language of his hometown) or any other indigenous language. Why? As a senior politician in charge of a big party, he should be making an effort to connect with people as his former colleague Trollip did.

Malema speaks more languages than this guy.
