And you and I both know, that if the DA were to just jump into bed with ANC for no real good reason, they'd be screwed and they'd get game ended (which I know you'd love to see)...

Also, it's not like the DA went and begged EFF to vote for them in councils last year? Neither could they go and scream at EFF, "NO DON'T VOTE FOR US, PUT YOUR HANDS DOWNNN!!!!" either...

It's simple really, both the DA and the ANC would like to govern, the EFF is not interested in governing for now because it probably knows it will fail, instead they keep on dangling a carrot in front of the DA and the ANC, both are very happy to take the bait, only for the carrot to be yanked away when they are starting to feel comfortable, this has been happening since 2016 as far as the DA is concerned, surely by now it should be apparent that they are not going to do anything meaningful with the EFF support?

Since both the DA and the ANC are so desperate to govern it makes more sense that they will want their respective governments to work, why wouldn't they? Why would the ANC go and cause trouble in DA's turf if the DA can do the same to them?

If the DA were to jump into bed for no real reason? Are you listening to yourself? They would jump into bed with the ANC because they want to govern, you have seen the lengths they went to to stay in power in Tshwane, the ANC is also pretty desperate to hold on to Joburg, if you collapse my government I collapse yours, it will be as simple as that.

It's nothing scandalous and it won't be anything that hasn't been done before, the ANC worked with the National Party even though they were sworn enemies, the ANC worked with the IFP, that is the only chance at the DA and ANC having stable governments at local government, there is no party that is going to grow enough to surpass the influence of the EFF in the near future, it will take a while for some people to realise but it will hopefully dawn on them at some point.

I'm not sure why the idea is so hard to fathom. Even the democrats and republicans have to work together to ensure their own survival, even if they hardly ever agree on much. Same with labour and the conservatives.

It's how they grew to dominate the political landscapes of their countries. If there's too many parties on the ballot, including the EFF, then start making them irrelevant. Unfortunately that requires a degree of maturity which our toddlers are yet to grow into...

Holomisa faces the sheriff as he fails to pay legal fees in Lebashe costs matter

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa has missed his initial deadlines to pay a costs order of R1m relating to the 2018 defamation case he lost to Lebashe Investment Group. The R1m excludes the high court fees which are yet to be tallied and taxed.

TDS is Trump derangement syndrome.
JDS would therefore be John derangement syndrome in this context.

But it is a difficult one as equating the god emperor Trump with John Steenhuisen is almost blasphemy.
 

STAGE 8 LOAD SHEDDING, 800,000 JOBS BLOODBATH LIKELY TO HIT SA​

JOHANNESBURG - The South African government is preparing for the worst this winter as South Africa will certainly experience Stage 8 load shedding.

This means up to 12 hours of no electricity in once day.

Eyewitness News understands this is part of the projections put forward by Electricity Minister Ksogientsho Ramokgopa before Cabinet on Wednesday.

Word is three possible load shedding scenarios for the winter have been explored – with the shedding of 16,000 megawatts leaving South Africa perpetually on Stage 5 being the best scenario and 16,000 megawatts on Stage 6 and 18,000 megawatts resulting in Stage 8.

South Africa’s power woes are likely to worsen this winter – causing an even more devastating blow to an already ailing economy.

This could possibly see over 800,000 jobs shed.

Insiders have toldEyewitness News while the national energy crisis committee will meet on Thursday night and come up with targets aimed at cushioning the country, it's pointless as Ramokgopa has no legal powers to see that vision through.

Ramokgopa is already in a time crunch. With winter already setting in, he finds himself at the centre of a power battle that has pitted two of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s powerful allies Gwede Mantashe and Pravin Gordhan against each other.

In order for the electricity minister to make headway – he will need to obtain some powers from both ministers.

This is likely to form the proxy battle at the African National Comngress’ national executive committee meeting this weekend

Because it was how the Interim Constitution dictated that all parties that get 10% and higher in 1994, must be part of the government, for the sake of national unity.

It's not like they explicitly chose to coalesce...

Do you honestly think the ANC would stand by and watch while DA dismantles their patronage/"time to eat" systems, with their tacit support? Yeah no. We see the ANC trying to dismantle uMngeni just over the strides DA made there.

Like I said before, unless there's a true chance ANC/EFF can coalesce nationally and the Moonshot fails, it isn't a good idea for DA to run to ANC...
