The current half arsed solution is also unconstitutional, it violates the principle of every vote counts. Excess votes that make up that seat being distributed among the other parties means that you'd be voting for somebody you didn't want to.It ain't. If that person wants to go to Parliament to serve their country (ideally), why can't they? Why must they be part of a party to do so? That's exactly the way of thinking that the ConCourt found unconstitutional in the Electoral Act.
The nice thing is, the people who voted that oke in, can hold them directly accountable. And don't have to hope that the party the oke would belong to would take action, even tho they might not ever (ref. ANC).
P.S The current system we have should've been replaced by 2004. It was meant to be temporary. But as usual, ANC did nothing... (Refer to Van Zyl Slabbert's report and the recent majority opinion from the committee).
That seat needs to count proportionally. If there's a million votes and you get 100k, why shouldn't your say count 10%...
