The current half arsed solution is also unconstitutional, it violates the principle of every vote counts. Excess votes that make up that seat being distributed among the other parties means that you'd be voting for somebody you didn't want to.

I wholeheartedly agree.

What was meant to be implemented is a single-member Constituency/PR system as recommended by the majority on the Home Affairs electoral system committee last year. But in typical ANC 'unity and renewal" style, the system poses a threat to GLM, so they rather opted for this half-arsed minority-opinion option.

The ruling is a bit harsh. The simple act of flying a flag can't be regarded as hate speech, discrimination, etc.

I would agree, its a bit harsh, but you know what.. put that shyte to bed.. the old flag is done and has some very bad connotations and memories for a lot of people so it should never be flown in public in my opinion.

It's not hate speech but it's about as tasteful as taking a dump on the coffin at a funeral. Some things are just a no-no, and needs to be spelled out for those without a functional brain cell...
