The SA Politics Thread Part 3

Yeah, the poll looks totally off, I often use my predictions with the highest ever support the DA got, which was 26% when they were at their most popular in 2016, I don't think their popularity now is anywhere close to that but they should still be able to manage a minimum of 20%.

Low voter turnout will be the best possible thing for the DA. They won't grow significantly but if there is a low-voter turnout, it will inflate the DA's numbers. The reason for that is because they have perhaps the most loyal electorate in SA when it comes to turning out for elections.

Either ANC just about gets over the line or they just miss it (and get over the line with a few 1-2% parties) like what they did in Durban.

They aren't going to be looking for the EFF at any rate

As for Moonshot. That exploded on the launch pad

A lot of SA voters are just fscking retarded. Nobody wants to say it. They couldn't be bothered about what their vote means, what happens between elections, what corruption actually means, or what the impact of political decisions on the country's economy and reputation means.

There is much more to this and Van Onselen also misses the point.

Quite easy to say this when you have the privilege of being able to go to a voting station where you only wait 30 mins-1 hour (at most) and can easily get transport there.

For most people, this is not easy. They have to wait hours upon hours in lines (often uncomfortable) and crowded and moreover, transport to get to the voting station is not easy itself. They may also be tempted to save some money and avoid it. For some, safety may also be a concern.

De Ruyter says he is aware of his duties and responsibilities in this regard. But does not want compromise people's safety - and use a public forum to ventilate these concerns.
"If I am called before a court of law, I will comply fully," he says.
Oke is willing to testify in court.

All just an excuse. Perhaps if they voted in a different government, their voting conditions would improve.

This is the only mechanism to hold these leeches accountable, but they squander the chance and then continue living in misery...

The big problem.

Add in the "No viable opposition" meme alongside "the perfect big party to save us all" myth and the blatant disinfo and propaganda ANC spreads, and you get our current situation.

In other countries, people would've gone over to the opposition by now, but here...

Yup, Zim folks went over to the opposition 20 years from independence (the 2000 election was obviously stolen).
