The SA Politics Thread Part 3

That will be a schitshow of note considering the highlighted bit is impossible to achieve with our current lot of politicians
The best way to go about it is to work together but stay out of each other's way. I am sure one speech from Juju towards the election will sort all of this out, both the DA and the EFF will start discovering qualities in each other that they didn't know existed.

I have an easier way. Execute them all publicly and start with a whole fresh batch

That should motivate any future politician enough

3. ANC/DA coalition, which requires maturity on both sides. Might seem like a longshot but it appears that this is what their donors are pushing them into doing...
This is actually a 3rd option. So nice for not being stupid as some.

But I have commented on this I don't think it would go down well for either party.

It's a win for both parties if they stop bickering and play their cards right.

Over time they effectively reduce the other parties to irrelevance, until it basically comes down to a vote between an ANC or DA president. The smaller parties basically just become filler to make up the numbers to hold both sides to account. If the ANC steps out of line, a motion of no confidence is on the table, and vice versa.

They will differ fundamentally on things like foreign policy and open vs centralised markets, but this is where maturity comes into it to find a middle ground...

But I am not the one who has a problem with 30%ers installing solar, surely it would cause you great distress if you found a 30%er doing the installation? I can totally imagine you doing that.
I don't have a problem with 30%ers installing solar, it's when they are in charge of it that we get some and flames. But don't believe me, rather ask any SOE in the country how things are going.

You do know that all the SOE's were built with the help of the Afrikaner version of 30%ers? They mostly knew their limitations and generally worked hard. They certainly never ran the show.

Again, what's the point when moonshot doesn't have enough votes?
The ANC and EFF are still squabbling so there might be a chance that they win. If the EFF don't get their way with the ANC they'll vote against them. It's not ideal as it'd be temp until the ANC accede to their demands but they'd get a chance to rule for a while.

The whole no confidence and voting in a new mayor cycle is going to drag on until the next elections. Nothing is going to change while there's greedy little children like EFF and PA demanding positions. ANC and DA need to man the f up and say enough is enough...

Surely, they have got to try this ?

Nah, a hung council is better.

News24 was told the Patriotic Alliance (PA) might attend this meeting, despite the party already showing allegiance to the ANC.
Are we surprised tho? No.

In a video on Wednesday, DA leader John Steenhuisen appealed to political parties, who were not working with the ANC and the EFF, to vote in support of former mayor Phalatse.

Steenhuisen said:

Given the reality that there are no agreements on a coalition, I urge parties jostling for positions to support Phalatse. Phalatse is a proven candidate who has served as mayor before and gave us the best chance of salvaging the situation.

But Steenhuisen's insistence on Phalatse as a candidate will be challenged because the party has yet to consult other political parties.
Also, I thought that Gogo and JS were going to send Mpho to the shadow realm shortly after Congress... You know... Since she dared to challenge them or whatever reasonable explanation there was...

It's a cult.
Apparently, it was debated. I know long ago in that FM article about IFP I posted, they mentioned that they were going to use Mango's brand/face mostly since "it resonates most with the voters" or something like that.

I still find it strange tho LMAO.
