@TheChamp I know as much about you as you do about me. So I'm going to ask you this question without any back ground knowledge (well, maybe a little derived from online interactions); Do you think that a 6 to 8 week course is adequate in this circumstance? I know we don't have all the detail as to what they are expecting to achieve with this initiative (other than the oblivious political smoke and mirrors) but do you think they may just be putting peoples lives at risk here?
 
What happened to "rather the devil you know than the devil you don't"?

Yes, it all depends on what the course entails, there are many aspects to solar installation, for an example, mounting the panels can be done by anyone, even the guy you pick off the streets who never went past primary school.

Secondly, if you read carefully through that statement you will see that the 6 to 12 weeks is about theoretical training, thereafter the practical, on the job training will commence.

I know you don't have faith in "30%ers" but it is really not rocket science, did you know that we have people here who DIYed their installs from the ground up without any prior training? Even more they went on to be very valuable sources of information and helped others with their installs.

So no, I don't think they are putting anyone 's life in danger, this is a very good initiative, those youngsters will do just fine.

So for the first bold bit above.. NO!! If you believe that, ffs man what do you do for a living? Flip burgers?

They spent 12 years (or more) to get 30% in social science subjects but now they are going to master electrical engineering in 12 weeks? Eish boet, refer to above reaction.

30%ers have their place in society, absolutely. They can add immense value, but electrical engineers they'll never be.

Yeah, you are the one with a problem here, and maybe slightly ill informed for a non 30%er, solar installation training does not make you an electrical engineer, and no one said they will be electrical engineers after this, and for your information most of the professionals who do solar installations that people pay a lot of money for are most probably not electrical engineers, how you manage to make that giant leap is very impressive.

But I will let you be, but try not to let the fact that a 30%er is being trained in solar installation upset you too much.

There's an annual kite competition at Muizenberg. I'm guessing yours is that huge goalpost that keeps bucking in the southeaster? You bought this Kremlinequesc propaganda same as our Golden Saviour Electricity Minister! Then you shout it out as the second coming!! Wake up my friend. They are playing you like a yoyo. This will never happen. So any argument as to what they can actually achieve is moot.
