The ANC has agreed to cast aside its recently agreed upon policy, that forbids it from supporting candidates from minority parties for mayoral positions, to allow for its deal with the EFF to thrive.

This means the ANC caucus, together with the EFF and other smaller parties, will vote for Al Jama-ah councillor Kabelo Gwamanda as the new mayor.

They're puppets not in control of anything. This one will hopefully not speak to the press without a prepared speech.

Only because the PA wanted him removed for revealing his stupidity. The ANC and EFF will never hand power to someone who might actually do the job. That is why they refuse to give it to the PA as they wouldn't be able to pull the PA's puppet strings.

Agreed, which is also why the PA are trying their luck with the coalition group hoping they'll be desperate enough to hand the PA power.

So far it seems that the DA is at least holding the line on that one.

That's how things work in politics, you can't afford to be rigid when it's clear that the power dynamics are not in your favour, principle is a good thing but sometimes it simply doesn't work.

The ANC should however stop pretending to be trying to establish a principled approach to these coalitions. That whole sham with commissar Snuki was just an excuse to throw shade at the DA. Why not just do that without the pretenses and lies. They will never abide by any principled stance, they are always going to be driven by lust for rule and the power that comes with that.

What would a political party be if it stopped pretending? It is he who pretends better who wins, I would actually urge all the opposition parties to up their pretending game if they are to offer some resistance to the ANC, at least the DA is putting in a very gallant effort.
