According to a breakdown of services, JMT charged the municipality R198 000.00 for VIP catering, R100 000 for fireworks displays and R20 000 for lighting.

Furthermore, the municipality was charged R18 000 to be provided with five flat screens during the gala dinner and for branding alone, it was charged R114 000.

JMT Enterprises was the cheapest company as internal documents showed that the other four companies charged between R3.5m and R5m to host the gala dinner.

There has never been much difference between them and the ANC, as far as these crass expenditures disguised as real council work are concerned. They just had the benefit of having less presence in government, now that has increased and so have the scandals, at least the dinner cost less than breakfast.

PARTY IN DISARRAY: ANC firmly on the ropes in KwaZulu-Natal — rescue mission launched

ANC top brass will this weekend visit its structures in KwaZulu-Natal to discuss issues including the school feeding scheme scandal, eThekwini being placed under administration and the party’s decline in popularity in the province.

On the political front, the ANC’s top brass is not happy that since the new provincial leadership was elected last year, the party has lost by-election after by-election to the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).

Most worrying for the party is that it’s losing in what were traditionally ANC strongholds, heightening the fear that the party is on the road to losing KZN to an alliance of the IFP, the Democratic Alliance (DA) and other smaller parties.

Where the Moonshot governs they have shown that they can be significantly better than the ANC, just look at Tshwane, it's a shining example of what the Moonshot can achieve if given a chance.

Prevents ANC elected councilors from access to feeding trough, at least it gives another party a chance. SA is after all shared by all not just ANC.

Why do we need a judicial inquiry chaired by a retired judge to tell us the answer to a simple question government can answer?
It’s one call to Minister Thandi Modise or General Rudzani Maphwanya to find out.
Did we ship armaments to Putin? Yes or no?
If anything, this response adds veracity to the US ambassador’s claims.
If we did not sell weapons to Russia via a secret deal late at night in Simon’s Town, government would have told us so by now.
A commission of inquiry will take at least six months to a year to complete. A long night awaits.

JUST IN | Government to set up inquiry led by retired judge into whether it supplied arms to Russia, Presidency says
Government is set to appoint an independent inquiry led by a retired judge to probe allegations made by the US ambassador to South Africa that SA supplied weapons to Russia.
The Presidency said it noted with concern the remarks by the United States Ambassador to South Africa, Reuben Brigety, alleging the supply by South Africa of weapons to Russia.
"The Ambassador's remarks undermine the spirit of cooperation and partnership that characterised the recent engagements between US government officials and a South African official delegation led by National Security Special Advisor to the President Dr Sydney Mufumadi," spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said.
Magwenya said Briget’s public posture was counter-productive and undermines constructive engagements on the matter.
“It is public knowledge that a Russian vessel known as Lady R docked in South Africa. Allegations have since been made about the purpose of the voyage. While no evidence has been provided to date to support these allegations, the government has undertaken to institute an independent enquiry to be led by a retired judge.
In recent engagements between the South African delegation and US officials, the Lady R matter was discussed and there was agreement that an investigation will be allowed to run its course and that the US intelligence services will provide whatever evidence in their possession,” Magwenya said.

It's not illegal to have dealings with Russia. The sanctions are between Russia, the US and Europe plus some of their close allies. They don't prohibit other countries having dealings with Russia as far as I am aware.
