The SA Politics Thread Part 3

From an ANC point of view, they're all cadres.

From a MyBB point of view they're only cadres if they're not white. Niehaus - dom wit ou who's an embarrassment. Melanin Verwoerd - naive ANC ambassador. Erwin - communist scum. Generuyter - saint notetaker whose hands were tied.

Why do the white cadres have different labels? Do they not deserve to share the same insult? They're all cadres...

If you’re part of the ANC in government; you’re a cadre. Regardless of skin color. ADR was one too.

Exactly, his defenders just don't want it admit it. He's a cadre who fell out of favour, but a cadre nonetheless. Same thing happened with Jamnadas, people even marched for him, but he found favour again. Difference is there's no way back for AdR, you can't go full retard to the extent that nobody wants you back...

You're naive. Thuli was a cadre and she gave Zuma's ANC massive chest pains. Pikoli was one and he too gave the ANC chest pains. Those are just two off the top of my head.

Champ is exaggerating with De Ruyter, he is not a cadre but did behav loyally while was in the job. He only flipped out once he failed.
I am using the same MyBb definition of a cadre, I did not create it, the same people who created it suddenly have a problem when it's applied to their tribe, De Ruyter is a cadre the same way the other Eskom CEOs as well as other black people in senior positions they don't like are cadres.

@The_Right_Honourable_Brit is a hypocrite because all of a sudden De Ruyter isn't a cadre because he is not a member of the ANC, but since when is that criteria applicable?

Because "cadre deployment" is an explicit ANC policy. Perhaps go and do some reading?

Champ reaching here; Melania is as wit rot ANC as Niehaus, Hanekom and Erwin; Leon was and is DA. All gave the "ANC" rogues gallery faction a bit of chest pain now and then. Thieves do fall out.
Both were South African ambassadors, if Verwoerd is an ANC ambassador how can Leon not be an ANC ambassador? Who appointed him an ambassador, is it the DA?

Stop being disingenuous, perhaps do some reading for once in your life comrade?

Verwoerd was elected as a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress (ANC) during the first democratic elections in South Africa in 1994, and re-elected in 1999

A policy that somehow doesn't apply to De Ruyter but applies to everyone else?

Can you give me one definition of what is a cadre so that it's on record here, I wanna see something.

I know Melanie very well so I don't need any citations, fact is she was a South African ambassador, ANC don't have ambassadors to other countries, being an ambassador has nothing to do with the party she belongs to, was Tony Leon a DA ambassador?

Then by definition, what does that make De Ruyter? Who was he deployed by?

Nope.

From the Daily Maverick:
Defined in the simplest terms, cadre deployment refers to a process through which political parties in a democracy give effect to their policies and objectives by preferring functionaries who subscribe to the same values.

AdR never subscribed to the same values as the ANC, hence he cannot be a cadre. It's really not that hard to understand.

He was hired by the Minister of Public Enterprises of South Africa, after the other 26 candidates declined the job offer. Cadres get deployed by the NEC/NWC from Lootfreely House, their function is to loot and keep patronage networks flowing. No job interview required.

I dunno man. Your definition of a cadre is now different to Chris. If there isn't even consensus on what a cadre is, then how do we know who is one and who isn't.

If you can admit that André and Melanie are cadres, it would make this a lot easier instead of jumping through hoops to defend them...

He wasn't, he was hired in the same way all CEOs are hired, by the board of Eskom, just as he was fired by the board.

Now since that is out of the way, have you ever called any SOE CEO or any senior leader in any government or private institution a cadre before without any proof of who deployed them?

Only half a board can hire a CEO? Did he give the board his resignation letter?

I don't know how the board was constituted at the time but they were clearly functional enough to do what they had to do.

Yes, the resignation was tendered to the board as his employer. Pravin appoints the board and the board appoints the CEO, yes Pravin being the shareholder will hold as sway as to who gets appointed, but the accountability is with the board.
