The SA Politics Thread Part 3

Usually, if a government loses support en masse like the PSOE in Spain and Tories in the UK in local elections, they aren't going to do much better on a national scale.

It's common overseas. If a local election goes this badly for a party, you might as well rip off the bandaid and hold national elections.

P.S. The Spanish elections were meant to be held at the end of the year, but it's been brought forward to July...

Steal, how exactly?
That's like a government that has just won the national elections with a majority deciding to call an early election for the local government because they have identified the weakness of an opposition party that stole a municipality or two from them and want to win them back fast fast because they think their popularity would have waned in the next two years.

Yes, steal, as in capitalizing on your opponent weak moment and stealing an election, we have set terms for the very reason that elections are not supposed to be won by stealth or opportunism, everyone knows that elections are held at this interval, even if a party decides to sleep for the whole four years and wake up on the eve of an election to campaign, you don't just decide that oh, I am at the peak of my popularity therefore I demand an election now because I might not be this popular next year.

Things should be allowed to run their normal cause, Spain can continue doing what they do and we'll do our thing this side.

yoh - doesn't look like sportsmanship at all? But then I don't know the rules.
Exactly, that's what the DA and their supporters wants to do every time their polls tell them their popularity is high, they want an early election, imagine if the ANC decides to call an early local government election because they have identified the DA might lose Tshwane because of the Cholera thing? President Moonshot would be frothing at the mouth, and it woukd be a highly undemocratic decision.

Most people would want an early election to get rid of ANC faster...

Just had this shared with me, so want to try and find the AG report.

Totally not surprised that this happened, everyone who had half a neuron knew that the ANC would take part in a feeding frenzy after the floods. Its actually fscking sickening that a tragedy like that is treated as a feeding trough for the connected. I'm not even sure that they can be classed as human anymore.

It was inevitable. The question always was, when it would come out and what the damage would be...

Yeah, and the problem is we know what the damage will be. For the political party and connected cadres involved, nothing. For the residents of the city, a city that is totally falling apart.

I am just glad that we have started trusting AG now. It looks like she is not for sale anymore. I wonder how long this will last.

In line with the whole country...

Eschitwini is really beginning to sound like a better name

Can't say I inherently trust the AG now...

But a report should be properly referenced and be able to be fact checked.
