Malema didnt make any excuses to avoid getting a degree unlike someone else who claims he did not have funds but went to Northwood Boys which is actually one of the most expensive schools in Durban and which charges more than most Universities do.

Do we know if John had the funds to study further like Malema

It adds that On-Point has been the cash cow of Malema, his family, and even the ANC Youth League, during his tenure. The company and its sister firms have made more than R400m from Limpopo government tenders since 2007 Full report in The Mercury (subscription needed)

Northwood one of the most expensive schools in Durban?
Are you smoking crack by some chance so early on a Friday?

Northwood is maybe 6 or 7th in terms of the old Model C schools, and in terms of fees I wouldn't even put it in the top 20.

NSFAS, it's there for people who want to study further but don't have funds, I think he was simply not interested, the whole thing about being too poor just does not add up.

John became a councillor in 1999, that's a well paying job for someone who is interested in furthering their studies, by 2006 he was already a caucus leader.

There's nothing wrong with not being interested in studying further, you don't need silly reasons.

And by being a councillor he would have been disqualified from accessing NSFAS funds, he would fail the means test.

I currently earn a decent salary, and I don't qualify for NSFAS and there is sweet fek all chance I could afford to privately fund further studies atm.

Well, John attended Northwood Boys which is more expensive than studying at Unisa and even UKZN if you dont stay on Res.

He could have studied on NSFAS before he became a councillor or used his councillor's salary to pay for his studies, and by being a councillor he was in a position to get funding and bursaries.

Tertiary education was way more accessible back then than it was now, truth is things just worked our for John in politics and he did not feel like studying further, we can see his political career was really good.

I personally would think it was a combination of finances and time...

And no, I think tertiary education is WAY more accessible now than it was in the late 90's, early 2000's both educationally and financially.
And yes with a salary he could have applied for bursaries or funding or even loans but may not have been able to get any of them for a variety of reasons that we don't actually need to know.

I tried to do an honours degree way back in the day whilst still having a full time job, and even with a very very understanding manager I just couldn't make the time work properly.

He did say he started but did not finish. The "finances" thing does not really add up since he attended a very expensive school.

Sometimes people quit when they are not cut out for it or are not interested, nothing wrong with that.

Northwood is and was back then a very middle of the road school... it is not and was not expensive.

Not personally at all, just correcting the stupid shyte you post.

R61k for a High school is not very expensive... it is very middle of the road for an acceptable quality high school. Also technically, currently Northwood is R58k for Matric, the R61k only applies to Grade 8

Most ex-Model C schools are in the R60 - R80k bracket these days, so R61k makes Northwood a not very expensive school.
