I stand to be corrected, but as far as I'm aware the DA and Zille still support EE but a version that isn't based almost solely on race, but focuses more on economic situation and stuff.

That does nothing to change the fact that they flip-flopped on the issue no matter how you try to spin it. BEE was on Zille's manifesto when she ran against Zuma in 2014.

I don't disagree that there is an element of flip-flopping, but it is a wildly different scenario to the EFF's flip flopping.

The DA didn't go "We support BEE" and then the next day go "No, BEE is teh ev0l and we support no EE type of legislation"

The problem is the DA cant outright say that they are against BEE- it will alienate the black support. But they cant say that they are Pro-BEE which will alienate the old WEE and other minority guard.

Hence, their current stance on EE (which is to act like race does not matter)- when in reality and in practical terms it does. With 1% of whites in 'absolute poverty'- taking the B out of BEE does nothing in reality (except appeasing the WEE crowd).

In the same way, Kurt Darren is idolized more by white people than black people, Clive Barker was idolized more by black people than white people as black people are the largest consumers of local soccer.
