The SA Politics Thread Part 3

That does nothing to change the fact that they flip-flopped on the issue no matter how you try to spin it. BEE was on Zille's manifesto when she ran against Zuma in 2014.

Some have tried to wrongfully attribute Mmusi for introducing it to DA party policy.
I don't see the flip flop to be fair. They disagree with the way it's been implemented, not the principle of empowering the previously disadvantaged. I think we can all agree on that. Empowering the connected and under-skilled for the sake of meeting quotas is not going to grow the economy...

They did flip-flop.

'Race is a proxy for disadvantage" was their go to line circa 2014-2019.

Zille herself has said she "regrets promoting black leadership" when talking about racial targets she introduced to the party.

The ANC has expelled its former secretary-general Ace Magashule.

The party's National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) confirmed this on Monday.

It said the decision came after Magashule failed to respond to the NDC after it gave him seven days to state why he should not be expelled.
EFF is waiting for him...

Don't think so. I don't see the ANC agreeing to that with their future national coalition partners. The gains in the FS don't seem worth a DP position for Malema next year.
They may not have a choice. Who another party employs is not their business...

Suppose so if the EFF think the ANC would have no other choice if they want to retain power. It could actually work in the EFF's favour the more they take away from the ANC. It would weaken the ANC's negotiating position.

Just saw Steenhuisen's rant against Lyft Airlines. I was honestly wondering if he was drunk posting? His responses were childish and the fact that the DA has not said anything to the contrary all these days later proves it was him.

Oke missed his flight and could not give reasons, end of story but was bitter and went on a rant against the airline.

So he wasn't hacked? The Moonshot must be getting to him.

Shot in the arm for the Moonshot.

Sithole, who had been an ANC councillor from 2016 to 2021, said:

We joined the DA because - as the majority in Ward 17 - we were advised by community members that the DA is the only option as the ANC didn't deliver its promise.
He said they studied the DA's constitution and made the decision.

"Where the DA has been given an opportunity to lead, they tend to lead well. We've seen it in the uMngeni Local Municipality as well as the Western Cape governments," said Sithole.

"As a person who believes that we should put people first, I had to consider a lot of things. But it was the people who were showing the way. That made it easy for me."
My fav paragraph from the article.
