They do love reading books about controversial people...Maybe @The_Right_Honourable_Brit can give more insight as he is DA aficionado and probably read Zille's book from cover to cover a few times.

Besides the IFP being strong there, the DA is not really interested in KZN, it's rural, severely underdeveloped, has a King and Chiefs, and the people like to kill each other for no good reason, they are very happy for the IFP to deal with that mess.Partially. Actually, more likely the agreement is far more beneficial in KZN. I believe the DA/IFP agreement in KZN is the first formal agreement in SA where parties stand aside for each other in wards. It demonstrates an act of maturity that is mostly not present in SA politics.
What a range of liking though. Liking uncorrupt Zille to liking corrupt as F Bojo & Trump. They do love reading books about controversial people...![]()
Or what's that other fellow... the CEO of Eskom... Forgot his nameWhat a range of liking though. Liking uncorrupt Zille to liking corrupt as F Bojo & Trump.
Nah fam. It's because of suspected coercion between the candidate and the PA. DA is engaging the IEC.DA withdraws from Ward 7 (JHB) by-election to help (I presume) Action SA. What a mature party. Even Sussman is shocked.
According to a sworn affidavit by Nicola du Plessis, our campaign manager, the candidate, Randell Markgraaff, told her on 5 June and again on 7 June that he had been invited to a meeting with Gayton McKenzie and said he wanted to attend as there was a possibility of being offered up to R5-million in order to move with his family to Cape Town. Find the affidavit here.
Ms. du Plessis, and another DA public representative, subsequently confirmed that the meeting between McKenzie and Markgraaff had indeed taken place. However, following a three-hour discussion with the candidate, he confirmed that he was committed to the DA campaign.
A DA public representative then warned us to be wary of what might happen on June 16, Youth Day, in relation to the candidate. As it transpired, Markgraaff chose this date, today, to withdraw from the campaign, at a time when it is too late for the Party to nominate an alternative candidate.
The withdrawal also comes after significant investment in the candidate and the by-election campaign. The candidate was enthusiastic to be running for the DA in the ward until shortly before his meeting with McKenzie. At this point, his attitude changed.
Announcing his withdrawal from the campaign on Facebook today, Markgraaff also stated that he would deliver a public address via Facebook tonight. Such Facebook addresses are also drawn from the McKenzie playbook.
We are currently engaging with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to determine the best course of action in response to this matter. We are committed to ensuring that the electoral process is fair, transparent, and free from corruption. The DA will continue to stand strong against any form of political manipulation and corruption. We will always put the interests of our country’s communities first, and we will not be deterred by those who seek to undermine our democratic processes.

Let's hope the IEC allows the DA to field a replacement. Either that or they'll have to back ASA...Oh wow. Well, this development will likely give the PA the ward (ANC - 37.5, PA -33.6, DA - 12.6), which is why he was incentivised to withdraw.
Turns out it has nothing to do with helping ActionSA, their councillor has gone rogue.DA withdraws from Ward 7 (JHB) by-election to help (I presume) Action SA. What a mature party. Even Sussman is shocked.
Oh, the drama, I am sure the Belinda knows it's a load of rubbish.
So Markgraff is moving to republic, then ?Turns out it has nothing to do with helping ActionSA, their councillor has gone rogue.

Kathrada was a communist and would have almost certainly wanted nothing to do with the DA as much as they try to spin things otherwize.
They are getting desperate, it has dawned on them that it's not going to be as easy as they thought, they are watching their dreams of governing Gauteng fade away.It looks like DA is going to race bait in the run up to 2024 to try and win Indian and colored support. The Ahmed Kathrada foundation and his family already called them out.
