Government jobs are the wrong option. What's needed is economic growth and get people into sustainable jobs not government grants masquerading as jobs. The government already employs far too many people, in fact, a lot of service delivery funding has been cut to accommodate public service jobs. Too much goes into salary payments.

For the ANC yes their grand schemes don't really last much beyond the next election..

I'm talking obviously about the country, its future and its economy as a whole beyond the political bullshyte from parties.

I 100% agree on this front without a doubt.

The Public Service (as a whole) could probably lose around 50% of its employees and with the right systems etc be more efficient and responsive to the citizens of the country.

The question is where exactly is the bloat? I take it it's not disputed that our law enforcement is every understaffed, so why are people moaning when Panyaza is trying to help in that regard?

The department of health, which has the most number of posts is also every understaffed, why should that not be addressed?

The problem of the government wage bill should be addressed properly, you don't do that by not filling critical posts in important departments like health and law enforcement.

People are just moaning that this is buying votes but cannot explain why are those jobs not justified.

Admin and management is where the bloat is.

Our law enforcement is actually bloated as well with management and admin overhead, as is health and education.
We don't have enough people doing the actual meaningful work.

For me the jury is still out on these Crime Wardens.... but I would like to have my skepticism proven wrong of course.

In terms of them being long term sustainable jobs, they are not that... they are a populist move, even the LEAP ones in WC are not sustainable long term jobs. They are jobs we should NOT have in this country.
 
Appears the mere mention of Zille touches some on their studio's and have to get their daily hissy fit in.
