The SA Politics Thread Part 3

Don't worry we will have The Champ and Julius telling us about the collapse of the vote in ward 7 but luckily we will be reminding them of the unique circumstances of this particular by-election. I am paying zero attention to the DA vote share for this ward next week.
Will you relax? I promise not to say anything about that ward 7 by election.

Basically impossible with the PA on the ballot. Was won by the DA in 2011 and 2016 with just over 50 percent of the vote, but the poisonous PA took away votes from the DA in 2021, allowing the ANC to win the ward with only 37% of the vote.

The DA leadership must be held accountable for loss of votes to the PA.

If this trend continues, new leadership must be elected.

Its noticeable some who held Mmusi accountable for loss of votes to VF+ are giving the new leadership a free pass.

Will you hold any other parties to this standard?

Yes, Mmusi was held to that standard so the same should apply. If EFF and ANC drop votes, questions must be asked of their leadership.
No they must resign, at the rate the ANC is losing votes they should all resign, the EFF is also losing, they will be a sub 10% party in 2024.

Hopefully we have free and fair elections next year.

I doubt all our elections so far have been free and fair though tbf, the cheating is mild compared to what happens in other countries.

The leadership was just elected in April LMAO.

John himself said at Congress, that if the DA's vote share next year drops below their 2019 result, he'll resign.

Not exactly. The same leadership has been in charge since Mmusi left. They already lost the party votes in the 2021 LGE.

Nope. The DA can't be seen to advocate policies that the PA are promoting like the death penalty or bringing religion back into schools, which would offend a large proportion of the DA base and many of its donors. Just like the DA is effectively writing off rural Afrikaans wards to the FF, the PA is likely to command the majority of the rural coloured vote in 2024 (although this is a very tiny part of the electorate). The DA can't offer populist policies - it's just not in its DNA. The majority of coloureds will still vote for the DA I think given the PA hasn't really cracked the urban coloured vote (certainly the DA held all the wards in coloured areas in CT at the very least).

Nonsense. The DA has worked with the likes of ACDP, IFP, VF+ who advocate for things like this. Even Action SA want to bring back religion into schools and DA work with them.

Working with such parties does not mean the DA itself can advocate for such policies.

What does resealing a street mean?
Surfacing; double seal, single seal, Cape seal, sand seal; take your pick. Selection, design and application needs a bit of education, experience and expertise though. I could expand but guess it will then be just yaaawn, DA bad.

Oh the drama, I wasn't going to yawn at a good explanation, and thank you for all the trouble.

I am asking specifically because the DA has a tendency of using fancy words when they want to hide something, resurfacing would have sounded a lot more straightforward. What sometimes happens is they pour something oily stuff on the road that is just a liquid that makes the road black as of something has been done, I guess whatever it is that they pouring has some releasing properties.
