Perhaps government can step in and sort it out...oh wait the lottery already falls under the Department Of Trade and Industry. It's not like there have not been red flags since the start, guess that's ANOTHER ANC failure

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) has received a number of queries from journalists and parliamentary questions from members of opposition parties requesting information regarding operational information related to the National Lottery.

In our opinion, the questions are not of direct public interest and come at a time that the National Lotteries Board is preparing to release a Request for Proposals as the start of a process of awarding a new licence to operate the National Lottery. The department is therefore concerned that the information sought may be used by parties intending to participate in a future bidding process.

The DA aren't going to grow massively and they themselves know that. Steenhuisen's aim after all was to consolidate the 20% 'core electorate' and win back some of the VF+ votes. They aren't interested in anybody apart from the "core electorate".

I think that there will be a very low turnout next year and if this is the case, it could help the DA by inflating their numbers. The DA have by far the most loyal electorate out of any party in SA and expect them to turn out in high numbers for the election.

Their number of voters is not going to increase by much if at all compared to 2019 but their percentage could (if there is a very low turnout). Expect the praise-singing and gloating to increase if this happens. @The_Right_Honourable_Brit will be overjoyed.

A large slate of by-elections today. Ward 7 will be a competitive contest between the ANC and ANC-lite (PA). The DA should comfortably hold onto their ward in Tshwane with no serious opposition as far as the eye can see. DA should benefit from the IFP/DA pact in KZN with them getting a clear run in the eThekwini ward, mopping up the rest of the IFP vote in the ward. For the other KZN by-elections, IFP should retain all their wards, given the derisory performance of the ANC in KZN currently.

Going to one of the most corrupt and backward provinces in SA (Mpumalanga), the lead the ANC obtained over the EFF should allow them to retain the ward, as should the DA. Likewise in the heart of the Independent Cape Republic, the DA should coast to an easy electoral victory in Bloubergstrand - although I do admit when looking up the result last night, I was shocked that the EFF obtained 443 votes in the ward, so maybe they will get three figures today, even on a much lower turnout,

Stupid question here but let's go:

Why doesn't the DA create a proposed list of ministerial candidates for the various NB positions in government?

They constantly attack the other political parties instead of focusing on the most important aspect, at least in my opinion, when deciding which political party to vote for: ensuring capable, experienced and successful candidates are placed in the various ministerial portfolios.

Maybe I am naïve when it comes to understanding the politics of being a minister but surely rotating candidates between portfolios that they are incapable of running seems like a terrible idea for accountability?

Basically look at their shadow ministers to see who they would put forward for those positions initially.
