She was probably voted in by 8 provinces out of 9, Limpopo speaks Pedi, Tsonga Venda, Tswana for the North West and Northern Cape, Sotho for Free State, Swati and Ndebele for Mpumalanga.

I don't know how you can go from that to it being a contest between Xhosas and Zulus. She could have been any other tribe, as long as she has the majority support.

I think the trend points more towards the trouble being with anything that has Zuma links to it. NDZ lost, Zweli Mkhize lost, Mathabatha lost, Bathabile lost and Ace was chased away.

I thought the dominant groups in terms of numbers were zulu and then xhosa and zulus had the majority vs the rest much like the anc vs the rest

But what will you say if you found that most of the votes for the winner are from other provinces? Like Eastern Cape contributed only 30% while the rest came from the other 8 provinces, including KZN? What is it now? Zulus in alliance with Xhosas, Pedis, Ndebeles, Vendas Tswanas etc against Zulus?

I think you are just complicating your life for no good reason, stick with Eastern Cape and KZN are the dominant groups in the ANC, I don't see what is the purpose of reducing it to Xhosas against Zulus.

I'm white so I have no concept of tribes like this, hence asking.
Is there still al lot of conflict between the tribes/cultures?

indeed. Anglo-boer was not a tribal conflict at all. But, at the end of it, these 2 tribes consolidated pretty conveniently before 1994. And still do.

Reminds me of - Cat drinks milk while closing its eyes and thinks no one sees it.

No, not really, next time you see two black people not getting along or fighting it will probably have nothing to do with tribes.

KZNers are still struggling to understand that someone who is not a fellow tribe member can lead them and have their best interest at heart, they also don't have much belief in coexistence but it's nothing out of the ordinary, pretty much like what you see with Afrikaners.

I am of course speaking very generally because there are plenty who have outgrown that.
