I wouldn't call it weaseling. There is no point of a political party if it cannot rule/extend its rule in one form or other. In worst case, if it means coalition with ANC, so be it. ANC-DA coalition, if it happens, will be the best for the country in many aspects. Better than kaboodle of so many tiny liliputs. The DA want to leave themselves weasel room,

I concur with @ToxicBunny. Although I despise the idea of an ANC/DA coalition if Moonshot fails and the only way to block EFF is that, then...I honestly don't see this being a "bad" thing per se.
If the coalition can form a government then everyone is committed to that, but the agreement becomes pointless if it doesn't reach the 51% and then all parties would be remiss not to be making contingencies for that possibility.
Yes I don't want to see an ANC-DA coalition, but at the same time I would want to see that more than an ANC-EFF coalition.

Desperate times call for desperate measures...
I still don't get where people who are optimistic about ANC/DA come from...
Since nothing would change, and every gov failure would be pinned on the DA, it could also lead the DA to get ****ed electorally... So in that case, the DA would need a strong agreement, and be able to change things and be willing to leave the moment ANC breaks the deal, otherwise, it's a suicide mission.
Wtf is Isanco and UIM?
Oh and SNP
Is this a coalition of the unknown and the half-known?
Yeah the only SNP I know is the Scottish National Party![]()
Everyone in the Moonshot know they are not getting the majority, so this DA condition is very silly. Just Moonshot and stop making it look like it's about principle, no one will judge you.
Why isnt SANTACO here? What a beautiful day in SA's democracy and shows that political parties are finally showing a degree of political maturity (remember coalitions are the standard in European democracies with a PR system):
ISANCO is a splinter from Sanco, Sanco is a civic Movement that is affiliated to the ANC, the same one which Zuma, was elected chair of in KZN.Wtf is Isanco and UIM?
Oh and SNP

The FF+ has already disclosed that its preferred candidate to lead the Moonshot Pact and its likely presidential candidate is IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa, despite the DA being the official Opposition.
Daily Maverick understands that the DA holds the same sentiment and that its leader John Steenhuisen is gunning for the deputy president position, which, if he is elected, will see him becoming the leader of government business.
The DA has on several occasions explained that it has no expectations to lead the pact, despite it being its brainchild. The party says it also does not believe that because it is the official Opposition, it is obliged to be in charge and has instead pushed a stance of equal partnership.
I found this very interesting:
