Beaufort West is trying too hard to be mini Tshwane
But I like how the moment he went over, he just suddenly became muni manager...

Totally nothing sus there...

And going by the statement by the DA, it seems he's gone rogue long ago. I assume the PA coalition offered him the muni manager position if he jumped ship.

DA did the same many times.

Madikizela joined from ANC and got big positions in the DA. Same for Nosimo Balindlela (who was an ANC Premier of EC). Ghaleb Cachalia also joined DA and was suddenly fielded for Mayor. He is also a former ANC guy. Just three examples off the top of my head.

The ANC probably would issue very similar statements. That is what parties do in these cases.

Don't forget, Zille recruited the Amathembu King Dalinyebo back in the day (to get votes) when she well knew he was a shady chap.

He has experience, was a municipal manager before, he was appointed on merit, the politics happening in the background is just a wonderful coincidence.
Welgemoed was a municipal manager at Beaufort West from 1996 to 2006.

Some cadre deployment for them, I guess there's no reason to be left behind when both the ANC and DA do it where they govern.

Everybody does it. But there should really be another term for it. Maybe there is

So they got party positions? That's normal. Mayor is an political appointment, it's how it works.

What I'm contending is the fact that the moment the oke walked over he coincidentally got a civil service job at the muni (which isn't supposed to be a political deployment, but hey...), muni manager in this case...

Oh, come off it Champ. Really? "The politics" is just a happy coincidence?

LMAO, sure...

He is mistaking his father's support for his own, remember when he made a rally and struggled to speak in his father's language? Maybe old Zuma might campaign for him but judging by his record of campaigning for his ex wife I would say it won't help much for Dudu.
FFS. If Zuma's son can't talk fluently in isiZulu, then let us not harp on anyone else.

Same happened with Cachalia. He joined and the DA fielded him for Mayor of Ekhurhuleni.
Yeah. Political positions... Being a Mayor is a political position. It's how it works.

Cachalia wasn't coincidentally appointed in the muni itself now, was he?

He probably speaks a fusion of Zulu and English. He needs the strong fluency to do well in rural parts of KZN so it his best for his and his Dad's image to not speak.

Zulu people laugh at him when he speaks isiZulu, lol.
But people are also stupid so he may well get enough votes to get a seat. And the various ANC proxy parties, like ATM, etc would nominate him for president. He wouldn't win however.

If I was a billionaire, I would also get votes.

If you have money, its quite easy. All you have to do is talk to a couple of pastors, chiefs and religious leaders and get them to endorse you in front of their following.

This is why most politicians prioritize relationships with religious and cultural figures.

It may not be a political deployment but it is still a politically influenced appointment.

Case in point, The current Tshwane municipal manager was the Nelson Mandela Bay manager when the DA was governing in 2016, when they got Joburg in 2021 they wanted to bring Mettler in as municipal manager, his appointment was opposed,

And the DA was finally able to appoint him for Tshwane.

That's just how we roll, we can argue that it's not a political position until the cows come home, but we all know better, if anyone disagrees the DA will point at Mettler's experience the same way I did with the PA guy, anything else is just a wonderful coincidence.
