Its nice to see a few more people standing up to these thugs and trying to put them in their place.
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again; an ANC/DA coalition wouldn't;t be the worst outcome, next year.

Yeah, I got slammed for saying it too. But honestly, I believe it's the best outcome for us. Anything else will be too unstable or too destructive.

Depends on whether the ANC lose and how far they fall below 50%. The ANC have coopted the FF+ in the past so wouldn't be too surprising if they went with them and one or two of the other perennial minority seats parties in the event they don't fall too far off 50%.

That was just some PR stunt because they already had a majority and didn't need to. Completely different when you don't have a majority.

It's almost certainly going to be EFF. They share the same foreign friends, and similar policy just not as extreme. It won't be as tense as with the DA where they will differ very publically in case Putin wants to visit or uBaba wants to sneak out of the country to avoid arrest...

Well, the FF+ were happy to accept a position as are GOOD, but they won't last too long and their declining means they may not even make parliament. I mean why would the FF+ refuse, coopt them again and give them some ministry like tourism and sports to manage. The ANC wouldn't want to share anything too lucrative. The EFF will be more of a last resort option for the ANC, the EFF demand the whole hand when you want to work with them and once there also refuse to account to anyone but the CiC. It would have to be DP for Malema and one or two lucrative ministries in the bargain. The ANC wouldn't want to give up that much if they can get away with less.

Giving them the 2% or whatever they might need is not going to give the donor any power over anything so it would not make a difference, the DA can continue moaning about Putin while they are enjoying their ministerial perks and whatever they get out of the arrangement. It won't really be about aligning because you share similar values or anything like that, I will be a marriage of convenience that keeps the EFF out.

The problem with the EFF is that they are the biggest threat to the ANC than the DA, they will go with the DA because it is a safe bet, they might be the second biggest party but the ANC knows they are not a threat to them, they will stay a 20% party for a while. One day when Zille is confined to a retirement village maybe the DA can find its way out but for now they are the perfect partner.

The only thing that's going to be a problem for the opposition is that if they are seen to be scrambling to partner with the ANC they become dispensible, which erodes their bargaining power, but that's what they will deserve if they cannot unite.
